This team should get better as the season progresses. The constant will be its defense and toughness. But offensive continuity should improve.
That's exactly what I was thinking as the game wound down. This group has not played together very long and they have a lot of ceiling left to go.
They were lights out defensively. Just a pleasure to watch. The offense looked good, but I agree they should see improvement. So excited for this season. Have my tickets for Fort Myers and can’t wait!
I’m just glad FSU doesn’t hold sole possession of the longest winning streak in the series now. That would have sucked majorly lol.
White seemed to have played mainly six players today. That could be very good for developing team chemistry. However, the season is very long, I would like to see better results from some of the bench players: i.e, Felder. In the FSU game, Elijah Kennedy looks promising.
Really think we need to utilize Felder to reach our max potential, but this team could be great if they play with that intensity every night.
And a very nice resume win early while doing all of what you just said. “Wes Chandler was Percy Harvin before Percy Harvin was born.”
Did play the starters a lot with only Fleming getting more than a few minutes off the bench today. They seemed to still play with plenty of energy. I think the biggest concern is keeping Castleton healthy as the team would really miss him against the better teams.
Going to have to start watching the results from next next few opponents. Ohio State had a squeaker in their opener (though we might play Seton Hall.) Oklahoma picked 6th/7th preseason Big 12 and play absolutely nobody (UCF?) before our Dec 1 game. We will have played 3, and even Elon might have been better than who they will have played.
As they got accustomed to FSU's length, the Gators got better on offense as the game progressed. Kennedy bagged a big 3 when we were struggling to score in the first half. Huge basket for the Gators, one of the most important in the game, IMO.
Jitoboh picked up two fouls in about 3min. Did he play at all in the 2nd half? Did Castleton play the entire 2nd?
Jitoboh had a sweet block on the perimeter in the second half, if i remember correctly. cat-like, if i am really to go all-out on the orange-blue recollection. lol
JJ needs to watch CC and learn how to defend shots. Go UP to challenge the shot, don't reach. He gets called for reaching at the shooter every game. Can't do that.
I worry that we might not get anything out of him this year and we may need some production there. OTOH - Castleton has had only one foul in each of the first two games.
White only played 6 players in the second half, going really small to give Castleton a break, with Duruji and Fleming as his two "bigs". I thought it was interesting that Felder didn't play in that situation, but perhaps he was one of the sick players.
