I hope we start the game with a don’t back down attitude. Floor a couple of Noles, a scuffle, then BMAC yell at them, “Not in our house!”. Play with an aggressive attitude from the opening tip till the end of game. That’s what it is going to take. If we sit back and just play defense, letting them get rebound after rebound, we go down for the eighth time. We have to make buckets and a high percentage of FT’s. Sunday is the battle between David (uf) and Goliath (FSU) for this program. As a Gator fan of basketball since the early sixties, this streak by FSU is something that is making my Dad turn over in his grave. War! When you wear a Gator uniform, you are supposed to be nasty aggressive and mean. Go get’um Gators!
I hate to say it but I can't see anyway we win this. FSu has White's number. I hope I am wrong but I think we will be 18-14 , be on the bubble all season long. Hopefully we make the big dance. My only hope is that we are a much more mature team then in the past. Maybe Key will come off the bench and save the day.
Hasn't that been the same prediction the last 7 yrs.? Heck, a couple of those years we were favored. I be more than happy if I am wrong.
While I still think winning is a long shot, one thing in our favor is the physicality of our transfers. They seem better built to deal with the bumping and banging usually brought by the team out west than some of our recent teams.
I watched some of the Florida State game last night against Penn. The thing that struck me the most was the length of every single Florida State guy on the floor. I feel like their length is going to give the Gators problems
The issue with this game each year is that FSU is always long and very athletic. Some seasons Florida proved the better team over the course of the year. But an early matchup, especially w/ Florida having a lot of new pieces and looking for cohesion . .. the advantage tilts toward athleticism. That said - this will be the most rugged, physical and mature team Florida has thrown at fsu in awhile. I don't see us getting pushed around.
Just DON'T LET UP. Play to win the whole game. As an aside, it would be nice to honor the doctor(s) that saved Key's life last year at this game.
Thinking the same thing, we should bring the doctors from Tally down with our doctors here at Shands to show our appreciation for all of them. From the ones with him on the court, in transit, at the hospital in Tally, and anyone here at Shands that can show up. They all need some court time and our appreciation.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall. We have some shooters that don't mind passing the ball. Could be a fun game.
One thing to keep in mind is that most of our current players do not have any history playing for the Gators against the Noles.
The good news is I don’t even get my hopes up for this game anymore. Normally we are down double digits rather quickly.
