I always thought it was kind of funny that college football has a big national signing day that basically turns into a holiday for half the country (two of them now), and basketball just has a random day in the middle of November and schools just put out press releases with the names of their signees.
Three talented recruits, another center and pg and we will have a chance to win some home court games, against D1 teams. Truly 3 great recruits!
Reneau seems to be at that level. Not sure about the other 2. Hopefully, they are solid and get to play. Not many recruits have been staying at UF for very long, but they almost all end up starting at other programs.
Not quite true. Nembhard is at Gonzaga and is an NBA prospect and All-American candidate. Payne is at Illinois. Lewis bailed out for the NBA even though he wasn’t ready. Ruzhnetsev, who was a terrific prospect, bailed out for the pros in Russia. In the meantime, our top 7 guys are all transfers, 4 of them who come from lesser leagues.

Nice looking group. Hopefully this gets back to a “normal” program going forward with guys sticking around 3 or 4 years. Not a fan of this year with the wild amount of transfers (not just here, but all of college basketball). I like the idea of 1 or 2 grad transfers. But I don’t like more than half a roster turning over. That being said, *this* year we needed those transfers or we’d be running a bunch of walk-ons out there lol. But I really do hope it’s just a one year fluke that the NCAA reigns back in.
Plus a lot of kids don’t announce in football until NSD, making it even more of a splash day (though I realize in recent years with early signing day and other trends, it isn’t quite what it was). But still, this was also far more rare in basketball. Basketball NSD was rarely about waiting for an announce, but rather just the day coaches could officially start talking about their recruits. I.e a press release day with little drama.
Best bigs class Coach White has ever signed IMO. Definitely needed. If Mintz comes our way, this could be MW’s best class ever.
