Not really. We need to have better basketball players on the court and execute. Too much is made about size. We are tall enough.

He's much better than what he showed tonight. He started slow last year too.

What were your favorite orations? I like the Gettysburg Address. Aragorn at the gates of Mordor is pretty good too.

While you think they out rebounded us, they only grabbed 67% of def. rebounds, we grabbed 75% of ours.
We had 49 misses, 44 shots and 5 FTs. they had 36 misses, 30 shots, 6 FTs. We just had SO many more possessions.

    Surprise of the night:
Gatkek looks like a player. He lost his guy once to find a spot on the floor and gave up a rebound but he does rebound and moves well. Doesn't appear to be intemidated.

Kyle does women's basketball, softball, soccer. Actually prefer him. Will get a big time job if he doesn't wait around on MH retirement.

He's not ready for the SEC but I was happy to see how hard and aggressively he played. He might give us a competitive minute or two now and then when we need a body on the floor.

It’s not either or, and the comments about having a short leash aren’t negative, just the facts of how it will play out if we see the same issues that have plagued the Mike White era. Similar to what we are seeing on the football side.

Stating that doesn’t mean I can’t hope he succeeds.

Issues plaguing the Mike White era? Since White has been in Gainesville, UF has won more SEC games than other team outside of Kentucky. And UF is one of only 12 schools (and the only one in the SEC) to make the last four NCAA Tournaments.

Yes, we all want more but there is no “short leash” on Mike White.

This was actually a very impressive showing. Dominated front to back, got the blowout win, and we Myreon wasn't even hitting tonight. CC missed a lot of bunnies. Felder didn't do a lot. You have to imagine this is a 30+ point blowout under normal circumstances. And this was the first game under the lights as a team. Not perfect, but not a bad first outing.

I just enjoyed the new faces and new games.

I'll have fun watching what MW can do with this group.

I wish we had a few more tune ups before FSU, but this looks like it'll be a fun group to watch grow.

I don't think he's on a short leash, but I also think most agree we need to see improvement. There's been some really positive things to point to in the White era, but these stats are all relative to what we are expecting as a program. Just looking at the SEC results, new coaches came in after White at places like Alabama, LSU and Tennessee and won conference titles almost immediately. Last year we finished 5 games out of first place. The year before that 4, and the year before that 7. We've done OK in the SEC but that just gets you OK seeding and as a result likely early tournament exits. It's year 7, at some point is it really too much to ask that UF be an SEC contender?

Hadn’t been able to see the game but looking at the highlites three things are clear: Mckissic is a star, Appleby is our best ball handler, and the four transfers are men, not boys. Should be fun

Sometimes yes but for the past few years FSU has been bigger, more athletic, and better. When you have major size disadvantage you have to have true “want to” to rebound with them. If you haven’t looked at FSU’s roster you should. They are huge and something we are not physical.

with 4 7 footers how do you think we will operate inside at all. Castleton is the only guy we have 6’10 or over that we even play. He’s solid but will have to scratch and claw and earn every basket. White does not seem intent on using JJ much. If he was I’d feel better because like our football team our basketball team has not been physical. In fact FSU has just flat out physicaled us 4-5 years in a row. JJ is one of the only guys we have that will play physical. I see this as the same old typical affair vs FSU where we live and die by the 3 point shot. I hope I’m wrong.
