Sorry if this was already posted (it's from last month), but looking up information on school fights led me to this:

    https://www.chalkbeat.org/2021/9/27/22691601/student-behavior-stress-trauma-return

I would imagine this stuff isn't exclusive to select areas but perhaps a bit widespread. As a parent, this kind of stuff bothers me much more than the risk of my kids getting COVID. I feel for the kids that were kept out of school; I hope this kind of thing gets considered before making a decision to do it again.

So does government and diseases. Shoot they let you go to work and school sick to this day.

We celebrated Michael Jordan for playing with the flu (apparently it was food poisoning but for decades it was celebrated for playing with the flu).

I hope any parents reading this don't listen to people who make up crap to scare them into vaccinating their kids. Literally if your kids are healthy there is zero risk. Like getting killed by lightning odds.

It looks like Shands/UF Health is mandating the vaccine. I expect UF to follow as they have federal contracts and that is one of the stipulations of the Federal mandate.

I'll repeat the example that I used previously. If you have had a documented case of the measles, you are not required to get the vaccine for it. You can also opt out of MMR in FLORIDA with a religious exemption. We are not seeing this level of implementation with a COVID vaccine.

We don't have to know every case, for tracking purposes we can stick to the documented ones. That's what we use for hospitalization rates and death rates.

And when there's a thunderstorm booming, do you find the highest ground and defiantly hold up a 3-iron as high as you can and tempt fate? Or do you take some precautions, even though the risk is minimal?

The precaution to Covid for kids is don't go to school when sick. Common sense. IF my kids get it, I have zero worries about them having complications. Bordering on child abuse to give a healthy child a vaccine that isn't fully authorized for something that isn't a danger to them.

Did your kids get the chicken pox virus? Measles? Polio?

And when the Covid fear mongers try to scare you about the danger to your kids, just show them this:

Oh, and 45% of those hospitalizations weren't even from Covid. Facts are facts. Don't get your kids vaccinated unless they have underlying conditions.

The parents of the 8,600 kids ages 5-12 hospitalized from COVID, and 143 that died disagree. So do the unknown number of adults who caught COVID from a kid. And with kids usually having a very mild case of COVID, they could be asymptomatic. Keeping kids home when they have symptoms won't help in asymptomatic cases.

Making up numbers again. At least use the numbers the CDC says like I posted. Signficantly less dangerous than the flu. By a large factor as well. Don't listen to fear mongers. Your kids are safe.

SARS related immunity does not confer long term immunity like measles or mumps. That has been documented. Yale just published another extensive analysison immunity conferred from SARS viruses.

Statistically, my kids are safe in a lightning storm too. But again, I'm not going to tell them to climb the local hill and hold up a 3-iron as high as they can. And unlike lightning, COVID is communicable. And people are often asymptomatic and can still spread the virus. Especially kids, who are more likely to have minor symptoms.

And maybe you missed this link the first time. It contains the numbers for kids 5-11 that were discussed in the FDA meeting yesterday. From the link:

Data presented at the meeting refutes the pervasive and false narrative that young children are not affected by the coronavirus. Since the beginning of the pandemic, at least 1.8 million children between 5 and 11 have been diagnosed with covid-19. Kids in this age range currently constitute more than 1 in 10 new infections. More than 8,600 children have been hospitalized, with 1 in 3 hospitalizations requiring intensive care. Tragically, 143 young children have died. [emphasis added]

And they lost billions in lawsuits and currently fund advertising campaigns against their own products.

Government did outlaw smoking indoors in most locations. Government outlawed drinking-and-driving. Your examples are not making your case for you.

My point is about the vaccination requirement. If you have a lab-confirmed positive test you do not have to get the vaccine, per the CDC.

And, in terms of differences, those diseases are far more damaging to children.

Ha, they just added that and then some to the cost of the product. The same problem exists (it's about to get worse if you notice the behavior of young people).
