Alex Smith, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, Dak Prescott, Nick Fitzgerald, Kyle Trask. What it looks like to me is he has generally inherited the pro style QB's as Smith, Leak and Trask were already at their school before CDM arrived. The Dual threat QB's he recruited. Common theme for both? They all been Successful and have greatly improved under CDM as Smith, Leak and Trask all had their best year under his coaching and we all know what the ones he recruited and coached fresh out of HS ended up doing Tebow, Cam Dak were all highly successful with 2 of them winning Heismans.

Cam Newton and Tebow were 100% Urban. Mattison and Mullen were assigned to Tebow and Newton was Stan Drayton's guy, but Urban closed both of them.

Dak I'll give to Mullen but Dak has also seemingly poisoned the well by confirming Mullen's beliefs and he's willing to continue seeking those guys endlessly.

I'm talking about coaching not recruiting Meyer was a DB in college. Those QB's were handed directly to CDM for tutelage because that's who meyer trusted to couch his QB's. But dont think for a second that those players came here and didn't know who they were coming to get coached up by.

This is a recruiting sub and I was talking about his recruiting preferences. When gifted good talent I believe Mullen does a great job but too often he starts out with one hand tied behind his back because of his inability to compete for the best and his preference of what to sacrifice for the next tier down.

You can say what you want but the guy has two #1 NFL draft picks and two College Heisman Winners that were under his direct tutelage. He was the QB coach at every place he went. You can say these guys were Mattison all you want but Mattison didn't teach them how to play QB. And the recruits didn't come because they wanted to be coaches by Mattison or whoever, they came because their position coach got a guy like Alex Smith drafted #1 and helped make Tebow into a SEC legend. Regardless of who you say recruited who, the guys in the QB room were Mullens.

Dude IDK how to tell you how to read, but when I say:
"It seems like his M.O. is to find the most athletic player out there that is terrible at reading the field (and thus less competition in recruiting) and hope he can teach them how to go through 2 reads before ditching the play to run it. I feel like it’s kinda disrespectful to how hard that skill is."

I'm talking about recruiting. Sure he coaches up every QB he comes across, but let me give you a list and you tell me which QB is the best:
    - Nick Fitzgerald
    - Feleipe Franks
    - Kyle Trask
    - Emory Jones

Now one thing is in common: he maximized the potential of all of those players. He's a great developer in terms of coaching up QBs and he schemes his offenses around their skillsets. But of all of those one was a Heisman finalist and one of the most prolific passers in school history, the rest were physical freaks that he could never develop into elite passers.

AR seems to have a high ceiling as a passer and athlete, so maybe Mullen's preference will pay off there as he gets more experience. But for Every AR there's 4 Jalon Jones/Jaccuri Brown/EJ/Nick Fitzgerald/Ketaon Thompson level players who never put the nuances of the passing game together (mentioned Jacurri because we recruited him until the new QB coach took over and wisely went after Evers).

Of course that's partly why the great players are "great" because they don't grow on trees and are far a few between. If every player was great like a Tebow or a Trask then they would just be common. But that's not the case with generational players hence the moniker, just ask Clemson who is feeling this exact pain right now. They didn't forget how to coach its just like I said the Watsons and Lawrence's are far and few between.

The difference is that Clemson can get Lawrence, we never had a shot. Mullen simply can't compete and never will.

AR being what he looks like he is, is basically a freak accident. Relatively little tape showing special skillset and literally in Mullen's backyard, grew up a Gator. And it takes EJ looking awful for Mullen to even use him.

Meanwhile we have Jacksonville kids baiting us for an offer so that they can land at UGA like Beck.

Lmao bro Jaheim Singletary doesn't need a UF offer just to get to UGA. He's one of the most highly regarded DB's this cycle. That just sounds foolish. But I'm gonna let you run along and play now because no point going back and forth bc you're just bound to find the shit end of the stick everytime. Kinda redundant.good talk

We were both clearly talking about one thing, unrelated to the thread title but something I commented on in another reply, and as you realized you argument was poor you decided to say how my post wasn’t related to the thread title and how you’re going to “run along and play now.” If you can’t straight up admit that you’re wrong and try to play it off like you’re right through insult, that’s troll behavior. I just call it like I see it.

You have no point. I posted that gift because you said " you call it how you see it" hence the Mr. Magoo for you. Lol Just because I engaged with a Uber negative poster who has not one good thing to say about our gators doesn't mean I'm a troll if anything you are acting like the troll. I've never known a troll to go on a fan site for a decade and say nothing but good things about the team. That's me, the "sunshine pumper" but troll nah, you can find them around here if you are really paying attention you'll see how they act. And it's definitely not acting compassionate about our team.

I know Dan better do something quick or it could get even uglier but speaking for my self, if the champ and Mac eras and the 100th+ ranked offenses didn't break me I think I'll survive but sheeeeesh this is turning quickly.
