You keep on saying "as advertised." But this is questionable wording that ignores how vaccines have worked tremendously and how they were being "advertised." That they might wane was never not a consideration or that they are not 100% was to be expected, and that elderly are more likely to be ones to die despite being vaccinated, absolutely predictable. Also, the data reported on in your link show that vaccines have severely reduced the number of sick and hospitalized among vaccinated which of course is precisely what they were trying to achieve.

Well after the last 2 posts, I really feel like this is the thread where people arguing over the vaccine are going to reach a mutual understanding.

    Fingers crossed.

Take a therapy that works... Problem solved with regard to Covid-19... Take the monoclonal therapy (if your doctor tell you that you can). That will save your life, in my opinion.

both. like tamiflu, are only effective if administered at early stages of the disease. do you think that those objecting to vaccines are going to be proactive in seeking early stage testing and diagnoses?

It could (and maybe did for my sister who is compromised but had a breakthrough case). I do not think you are intending to mislead people, but no, monoclonal therapy is not a cure. AAAS

Mortality went from 30% of patients with underlying health conditions dying from covid to 24%. The medical data clearly shows that all people, regardless of conditions, are less likely to die if vaccinated.

Please do NOT spread false assertions like antibodies mean "problem solved" if blue lives (or any life) matters. This is not political, it is science.

And yes, antibodies can save lives too (interesting that folks want antibodies but not the vaccine???). My doctor friends tell many stories of people being diagnosed with covid, and some dying, asking for the vaccine after their diagnosis. It is sad.

I will ask you the question you won't answer again: which has a lower death rate: a fully vaccinated person or an unvaccinated person? According to your own link, vaccination cut the death rate by over 70%.

Its strange. So many coming to the antibody clinic have no problem taking regeneron yet most for whatever reason were unvaccinated. Why are people so against a vaccine but willing to take synthetic antibodies? We have had a couple of grouchies who were angry they were there yet "reluctantly" accepted the treatment assumingly because they felt so crappy from Covid and just wanted relief from the fake virus....

Great for her that she is back on her feet and doing what she loves again. 15 hours of dialysis each week is pretty rough for a college student though. I remember in the early days of the pandemic someone joking about investing in dialysis companies, maybe not so much of a joke.

This is what is so sad and mystifying. NBA players saying they are not taking the virus because they "are researching it." As Van Gundy said - what research are they doing? What studies? The people dedicated to saving lives and who study this their entire lives have the answer. Folks reject science not in favor of other science but in this one instance. They are vaccinated for polio etc. and want monoclonal antibodies but, no, they reject a vaccine because some politicians have turned the question away from medicine/science.

It is not until folks face death that they are willing to listen, and then only sometimes. What does it mean for society when news sources contradict the truth of science and studies and literally result in increased deaths of our family members and fellow countrymen (including police), yet some still go to those sources for this and other news? How can someone argue that vaccinated people still die so "it doesn't work" when clearly that is a deadly disingenuous statement at best, a lie in reality. It is almost like Jonestown kool aid.

So this sorry ass story is what passes for news/journalism today?

I do not understand the point of the piece. It says that there were 242 Covid deaths last year and 144 this year. Let’s just be generous and assume that they were all in the same calendar year, so a total of 386. A quick google search puts the number of policemen nationwide at between 750,000 and 850,000. For the sake of the argument let’s go with the lower number;750,000.

386 / 740,000 = .05%. That is less than 1/4 of the US deaths on the full general population.

So for the brainless at the station vomiting this garbage out at their viewers: 18 months of COVID deaths / the low end estimate of the total number of cops gives a death rate of 1/4 of the general population. mortality. Well done boys and girls and the editorial staff at Channel 5!

Is it really any wonder to anyone why people don’t and shouldn’t trust the media?

Well, that’s a shit take. What are you saying, those cops are expendable?

The article isn’t making any grandiose claims relative to the overall population. It’s just stating something the police organization itself claims - that COVID has been the #1 cause of death. These aren’t senior citizens in a nursing home, they are active duty police. How many were “supposed” to die of COVID? The tragedy in this is that almost all of those who died would have been saved with a $19.50 vaccine. In 2021 it’s almost inexcusable, victims of social media as far as I’m concerned.

Sorry Bling, as usual your emotion gets ahead of your logic and emotion. 242 officers died in 2020 before any vaccine was available. It is also a fairly safe assumption T least 10% of the 144 officers who died in 2021 were prior to vaccine availability.

With a post like this, you would most likely qualify for a job with Channel 5. You might want to check it out.

No one is saying that any liger is any more expendable than any other.

    Carry on please.

I'd say what I think that rating suggests about the person who gave it, but would probably be perma-banned. Disagreement with said poster is validation for people with brains.

Ok boomer, you were the one triggered by the OP into the insane out of place rant about “the media”.

I think we are all aware vaccines weren’t available in 2020, thats why I said the 2021 losses were especially tragic. Almost all of them were likely caused by political idiocy.

By your logic that "hey not that many cops died relative to the population" the fact that exactly 0 policemen died during BLM protests means that the whole "Blue lives matters" response to BLLM is wildly illogical and irrelevant.

Of course, in the case of covid the fact that 140 officers were dead last year from covid is relevant given that it was the number one cause of police mortality. And that will continue if they are not vaccinated. Pointing out that the vaccine was not available in 2020 does nothing to negate that unvaccinated officers are dying today.

So we are given the facts that there is a vaccine and it undeniably saves lives. We also know that police officers are choosing to get vaccinated at a lower rate than the general population, meaning more are dying than need be... TODAY. So, while you chase a wild goose about cops dying when vaccines were not available or their rate of deaths versus the general population, we now have the avoidable deaths of police officers. The fact remains that police officers are dying and it is avoidable. Why don't those blue lives matter in this case? Why would anyone ignore those deaths? Why would you divert attention from these lives being lost today?

If police are dying at less than 1/4 of the general population how is that relevant to anything? How many more accountants, engineers, or doctors died over the last 18 month? I’m sure that every profession saw some level of increase.

Nothing personal against you for posting, but that is a ridiculous, illogical piece of urinalism that adds nothing of value to any conversation or debate, yet it’s headline would lead one to believe that it was some earth shaking revelation. Sorry, but the headline is misleading and the story isn’t news worthy.

Then you should have just given me an “Off Topic” if it was an insane out of place rant.
