Just Speculation: It could be when he unofficially visited in late June that he was promised a coaches trip in to watch one of his games. Hevesy could have gone to a couple of games that night in fulfilling his promise. The kid is happy with Ole Miss so leave good enough alone.
man idk what it is with with us not being able to get ONE kid since they fielded their first team in 2013. That’s ridiculous no matter what the reasons are. I mean not ONE kid? And it’s not from lack of effort either
It used to be coaches steering them. Mainly ex-FSU influence. But now I almost feel like they have an unwritten rule. It’s hard to really compare them against other Florida schools though since so much of the talent is out of state (and they have a college preference that is more National) and they are almost explicitly bid off to whoever pays the most (considering IMG is an entertainment agent firm that’s not surprising). But yeah not even 1 is insane.
I suspect that till we do what it takes/figure out how to change the narrative on the recruiting of already developed/talented OL, especially tackles, we will be consigned to the ‘world’ that we are presently living in. What Coach was it that said something to the effect of ‘give me two great tackles and I’ll give you a championship ‘ ??
Saw Hevesy come out of the locker room before the game and grab McCoy out of the recruit section. Threw his arm around him and they went into the tunnel with big grins.
He would be highest priority to me at OL. He looks to have way more upside than Lewis or Cushman. He and Nonar look really intriguing as guys to develop over a couple years.
Surprised at that too. I have no idea who else is talking to him. I can't imagine that we have many others ahead of him. Lewis looks to me like a 5th guy at best. I don't see Bah as being an improvement either though I guess Georgia does. Their OL recruiting is looking really meh so far.
I think UGA OL is below their usual is due to instate OL in Georgia being down this year because they already have a commitment from the top OL in their state for 2023
Kinda surprised they didn't hit up Farmer as he will be as decent an IOL of anything they have recruited so far. If we got 4 OL of Conner, Farmer, McCoy, and Nonar, all of them are fairly athletic, flexible, and have good frames to build on. They just need Savage to build and Hev to develop.
