I agree it is still a major issue. But not one to shut your life down for. We have to learn to live with it. It is beyond frustrating that it took so long for monoclonal antibodies to put front and center. It is beyond frustrating that people refuse to acknowledge this disease is treatable and overall most are at little risk to the disease.

I still find it fascinating that we cannot get hard data of how many people dying with covid (that is the standard so we need that standard used/I think the number dying of covid is far lower) are vaccinated and how many are not. That should not be a hard data set to produce. Even if it had three columns for the unknown. Data like that is how you show people these new drugs are worth taking. And the coulple times it got leaked (UK and Israel)...it quickly became something hard to find/I have not seen it since.

The data was there before delta. Now we have it with delta. Can Federalism prevail?

So tired of the mask virtue signaling. And angry that we force kids to engage in it when they need to be seeing faces for their development.

I agree, but the school board doesn't see it that way. This will hopefully reinforce the data that is being observed elsewhere.

These same people arguing for masks are hanging on by a thread. They were adamant that lockdowns and school closures were the right move. They refuse to acknowledge that they've been wrong for 18+ months now. Some people won't every believe it. It's ok. Sort of of like those mandating the vaccine to those who have natural immunity. We should be sending those vaccines to those who actually need them. Millions and millions of people could be getting those much needs vaccines. But these people don't care about that.

 

Linking to the same study doesn't prove anything. I don't reject the study's findings that in Israel, natural immunity works better than Pfizer vaccine. Is that true all over the world? Is that true when comparing natural immunity versus other vaccines? You cannot definitively say yes to these questions.

We do know that those of African descent here in the US have been hit much harder than other ethnic groups. Is this solely because African Americans have higher comorbidity rates for disease such as diabetes? Or is there a genetic difference that makes up part of the difference? Again, a question we don't have an answer to.

Speaking of genetic differences, there certainly are among ethnic groups. Ashkenazi Jews are more susceptible than others for various genetic diseases such as Cystic Fibrosis and Tay-Sachs. It's possible that the slight genetic variations within ethnic groups causes different immune reactions. It's not unheard of, and there are reasons why people of African descent are significantly less susceptible to malaria. Would it be completely out of the question that something like that isn't happening with COVID? We don't know.

That's funny. That isn't science. That is some garbage thrown together to look like it shows something. Go read the largest study to date on the subject. It's what most of the world is looking at. And don't wear a damn mask! It means you follow science.

 

This isn't a disease. It's a virus. Natural immunity is significantly better than just being vaccinated. It's ok to say "you're right" and move on.

Malaria is caused by a protozoa. It's not genetic, yet there are people who are genetically inclined to be able to fight off the infection. The flu is caused by the virus, and disparities among how the flu effects different ethnic groups have been noticed and studied, even before COVID-19 came around.

That's just two examples, one bacterium, one virus, that show different genetic makeups among humans can cause different immune responses. Can you be sure COVID-19 reacts exactly the same way among all ethnic groups? How about admit that you could possibly be wrong, because we don't know yet for sure, and move on.

 

Just...wow.

 

So tired of the selfishness. And angry that I have to share a country with such awful, greedy, self-centered people.

The mask is nothing but Virtue. It is sad that some refuse to acknowledge the data and push the propaganda. On kids no less. Truly disgusting!

fwiw, from worldometer, new cases the first 6 days of october averaged 96,730. average for the first 6 days in september was 162,413, almost a 40% drop, no wonder fauci has gone silent, nothing bad to harp on, like maybe, in his opinion, christmas is in danger
