So, the primary job of an NFL DT is to get sacks. Saying the NFL is pass happy is an understatement. The NFL must have rules in place to protect this farcical brand of football. I guess the best RBs pass protect and catch the ball out of the backfield as a safety valve. This being true, the NFL is just a hot mess to me on so many levels.
After watching his film, it is clear that Aaron Donald is a product for the NFL as it is played today and probably for the last 15+ years. It about the time I quit watching the NFL. The NFL and its players have given me many reasons to continue not to watch. Donald wasn't able to elevate Pitt as his style of play inside doesn't translate well to the college game: 2010 8-5 as a part time DT 2011 6-7 DT 2012 6-7 DT 2013 7-6 DT He hasn't led the Rams to a Super Bowl title either, lost in one appearance. It must be the passing games of the other teams that have won the Super Bowl were the best that year. Hell, does anybody run the ball any more or try to have a balanced offense? It's no wonder why Nick Saban bombed at Miami and why Urban Meyer is likely going to bomb in Jacksonville. The college game is different from the NFL. The above being the case, don't give me a ration of crap about how good a 6'1"/280 DT is when he couldn't elevate his college team in a system of football where passing isn't given a preference by rule over the running game.
You seriously just spent all that effort trying to justify to yourself your own opinion of how much a DT should weigh? Yikes
You can't seriously think a DT can individually alter a team/season. That's crazy talk. A QB or RB might have a slight chance....but even Emmitt couldnt alter the UF trajectory, and those teams also had solid to great defenses.
That's the best you can say? Again, the college and NFL games are different. Why didn't you address the difference or rebut my opinion? I don't see anyway we can or will agree on this.
I didn't ignore anything. The entire basis of your conversation was how much a top NFL DT weighed because you just couldn't believe he weighed less than you assumed. The game has evolved...not just the NFL.
Mom may be trying to iron his underwear in his dorm room since he is from Miami… cramping his style with the ladies in the dorms
Who are the other two meta humans? Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders were meta human when they played for sure
Like the Dolphins with Suh, you can’t waste large cap dollars on a DT. Certain positions where you steer limited resources
Credit to Realmarkkern on 247 for snap counts (not sure if I’m permitted to link) Gervon Dexter 79 (38.7%) Jalen Lee 0 Lamar Goods 1 (0.5%) Jaelin Humphries 0 Chris Thomas 0 Desmond Watson 34 (16.7%) I know Lee was on the depth chart, so I assume he will get snaps when he is healthy again. I don’t know about the others. It seems like Goods and Humphries would have gotten a few snaps by now if they were going to be capable of being a solid contributor in 2022. Or are there some injuries? Zanders has 46 snaps too. He is at 291lb, so he also has positional flexibility. It looks like there is a lot of playing time up for grabs next season.
wait a second…do you have Seer-like powers to see the future? How do you know that LT doesn’t play in their 4th game? (Currently 1-2). I have a few point spreads I’d like your vision on for this weekend. Lol kidding aside..I guarantee he plays this Saturday with his unhappiness being known and the fact they are playing like a division 3 team.
