Blocking and beating blocks is what football is really about. Is easy for the skill guys when the big boys do their job. All our rbs looked good today. Go figure
Just noting it was nice to be tracking the "why" vs. the "why not" for a change. To your point, though, we did seem to run well against Alabama, not only an SEC team, but, the consensus number one team in the nation. One "Expert" on SECNation even said we would get blown out "by 20 points, if not more." We put up good running numbers, and, Emory said he was given time to throw.
another thing that I loved about yesterday along the OL is that we CONTINUED to rotate guys in like Braun and Tarquin and didn’t miss a beat the move to Kingsley at Center was god sent. He’s done exactly what we all knew he would if given a shot and that’s man the middle. I remember us on this board happy when we flipped him from Miami
I’ve been asking for an oline since Mullen got here while many have been wanting rbs. I’ll take any of our rbs as long as we have the blocking we had yesterday.
I did notice some holes up the middle last night. Mullen said the lack of one on the failed two-point conversion was a missed assignment. Wonder if someone missed a block there.
This thread can die. We are and always will be fine at OL with Mullen at the helm. We stonewalled bama’s 5 star line. Offensive line is one position where you can win with coaching and 3/4 stars across the board. It’s the defensive line where you need the horses and the coaching can’t make up for a lack of talent. Luckily we don’t have that issue.
Not to bust your *****, but it is kind of funny how this post didn't age well after just a few hours with our OL mauling one of if not the most star studded DL in the country with lower ranked OL. OL performance from star rankings is often a poor correlation. Other positions are often a better correlation.
Auburn and Arkansas have a really strong running game too. They have a chance (and now a blueprint) of how to attack and overwhelm Bama’s defense… then play keep away
I have a coaching man crush on Sam Pittman. Knew it the moment he got the Arky job he was going turn their fortunes around and like you said, he has the OL and RB’s to trouble Bama. Hell they have a solid QB and a solid group of pass catchers too.
Props to Hevesy for the OL performance yesterday - very impressive. I still think he can recruit a little better for depth if nothing else. Maybe we're fine without 5 stars but it would be nice to have a few more 4 stars (i.e., natural athletes) backing up our starters. Take high-potential guys and give them the same coaching, we'd probably be even better.
Our offensive line is top 5 in the country. Our talent from a “star perspective” on the o-line will never be worse and we are still damn good so I’m not worried about it at all. Gimme all the studs on the d-line instead.
Gotta love His mindset also has he really make sure the kids understand how important Arkansas football is to the state. Love that!
