The article doesn't state it includes faculty and staff in the 800+ number. More assumptions from you.

With one less poster, this thread would be at like 327 pages.

If we didn't have so many uninformed posters this thread would be 75 pages.

Well, the article itself does state that it is 97% of students. You assumed it didn't include anybody but students in your math. That is inconsistent with how schools operating mandates are working. Their numbers are entirely consistent with the schools operating mandates that I have seen.

My assumption comes from how the article is written. Take it up with the AP reporter. Doesn't mention staff whatsoever.

"Students are required to be vaccinated, but the school has been lenient with those opposed to getting the shots. It has granted over 800 exemptions without denying a single request, no matter the reason."

You are the one making up stuff to try to explain away the disparity between UVA and UCF. I get it, it really ruins any arguments for mandates of either masks or vaccine(I encourage anyone who doesn't have natural immunity over 18 to get the vaccine). Sorry to ruin your Friday.

Why didn't you quote the part where UConn explicitly said that they had 97% student vaccination rate, same as UVA? Another mysterious omission...

Next time, perhaps include all of the three schools, instead of leaving the one off that disputed your narrative. Just a thought.

I posted the statement above showing 800+ exemptions which equates to 4.2% following a statement saying students are required to be vaccinated, but the school has been lenient. Sorry you don't like the results. Just a thought.

Gotcha, My eyes saw "quarantined", but my brain saw "positive cases". I see what you are saying now.

And you decided to leave off the school saying it was 97% vaccinated. Again, because you didn't want that to be true.

Simple solution to this. UConn has a Covid dashboard, like most schools now.

University of Connecticut | COVID Dashboard

97% of students are vaccinated according to that. Case closed.

Regardless, after I looked up the UConn dashboard, I decided to actually dig into the numbers at UVA and UCF, both of whom have dashboards.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) | University of Central Florida
    COVID Tracker

Now, they decided to only include 2 weeks of data for UCF in the article. Meanwhile, the UVA figures included 4 weeks of data (since they started classifying observations as Fall 2021). If you expand UCF out to the same 4 weeks, you get 663 student cases. So now the number is up to 0.92% of the student population. And, again, that is without student intake testing, which UCF apparently didn't do this year but UVA did for at least some of its students, and with a huge percentage of the results being off-campus, which are often not reported to the school. Interestingly, UConn also did intake testing for their unvaccinated, making their order of magnitude lower figures even more impressive.

That's just how 95 operates. Cherry picking the stuff that supports his narrative and omitting the stuff that doesn't.

Still trying to paint the UCF numbers as not true I see. Oh well. Still better than UVA. Good effort though.

And much worse than UConn, which you seem to want to ignore. Heck, much worse than UVA and UConn combined.

Better than UVA, which was my argument, without any mandates. Thanks.

Because I wanted to compare the most stringent school according to the article to the least stringent. Simple comparison.

So now that we know that UConn and UVA have the same policies with the same vaccination rates, it would be fair to point out that UConn/UVA as a whole has way outperformed UCF, right?

They do. Both are vaccine mandates with the standard exemptions.
