Assuming names are independent variables (safe assumption) and even distribution of each letter across last names (unsafe assumption b/c I'm sure there are far fewer Z names, for example), it is 0.00022%. About the same chance as a person has of being struck by lightning (1 in 500,000).

So many more factors that go into it than that, how many of those 9% of last names that start with "M" are coaches and of those how many of them are college football coaches football , then of those how many are available at the time of our coaching vacancies?

The odds that we hired 4 straight coaches that start with the letter "M" are astronomical. It's just crazy
