Your personal choices end where they start screwing up my life. Thanks to anti-vaxxers, this pandemic isn't ending any time soon.

You don't get to choose to ram me with your car because you have "free-dumbs" or defecate in the street because bathrooms are oppressive. Get over yourself.

Do you have a reputable source for this information? I haven’t seen the 30-40% figure anywhere. Thanks

In August, the state launched a post-vaccination infections dashboard that is updated every Wednesday. There have been 14,006 total cases among fully vaccinated Marylanders as of last Sunday, Sept. 5.

Of those cases, 1,060 vaccinated Marylanders were hospitalized, representing 7.4% of all Covid cases hospitalized in the state.

Seems like it was made up, but I would be interested to see if there is an actual source for this information.

Good rule of thumb these days is when the bureaucrats say they aren't doing this or that, you can bet they are lying, it's already a done deal.

It's awesome you want to use children as guinea pigs. None of those vaccines were required for school children after 8 months on the market, took many years. But you're correct, some american people have changed.

I can't top @gatorchamps960608 's comment wrt personal choice etc. Seems more @ selfish and a lack of concern for the greater good.

    I don't know where you're getting the 30%-40% numbers?

They're not what MD's health dept data show.

In the last reported numbers in July, vaccinated persons comprised 25.5% of all cases and 20.3% of all hospitalizations.

Of all time since Marylander's started getting vaccinated, the vaccinated comprise 7.4% of all hospitalizations and 9% of all cases.

Those are pretty lopsided numbers. Vaccinations work for both preventing illness and death and limiting the spread.

What is happening is 2-fold. First, these breakthrough cases are from people who got their vaccine at the beginning of the year. That's 8 months ago. We already know that the vaccine at 8 months is greatly reduced, down to 12% efficacy. Secondly, look at the age of those that are hospitalized - vast majority are over the age of 65. So if you got your vaccine more than 4 months ago, are 65 or older, and have comorbidities, you might want to mask up when going anywhere or stay home.

Sounds good to me. But there should be an exemption for those who can prove they've had covid already, especially since someone naturally immune is vastly more protected than someone like myself, who is vaccinated but hasn't had covid.

There is also, in many states, the option to opt out.

Question for all those trying to control other people’s health. I had Covid, and data suggests I am now better protected then those that received the vaccine. Should I still be forced to get the vaccine, or be taxed higher, or charged a higher health prem?

The thread on swamp gas got me looking up information about Polio. Surprised to learn that two doses of the Polio vaccine only gave 90% protection. The reccomendation is three to four doses of the Polio vaccine.

Polio Vaccine Effectiveness and Duration of Protection | CDC

Also of interest was the section on how long the vaccine protects for, it isn't lifetime immunity, even after four doses.

The other interesting thing I came across was information about cases and deaths for Polio. The case numbers are probably underreported, only 1 in 1000 children and 1 in 75 adults who got it developed symptoms, but here is a chart showing case numbers and deaths.

Reported paralytic polio cases and deaths

    60k deaths over 50 years.

Which definition of vaccine we using on those? Speaking of change, see what the cdc did this month? That’s the gov’t changing my friend.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) quietly changed their definitions of “Vaccine” and “Vaccination” on September 1st, exchanging the word “immunity” for “protection,” now that it appears that breakthrough cases can no longer be explained away as an anomaly.
