It's depressing and possibly the main reason I don't think we as a society will ever recover. Social media has given a megaphone to any and every quack, political nut job and snake oil salesman.

I don't even argue for or or against vaccines/ivermectin but ask people to challenge their own sources in ANY argument in order to fortify their own stances. Again, if I beieve in something and want to be believed its my job to attack the information source even more so than the opposition. Of course more often than not that point gets lost somehow and I'm inevitably called a sheeple.......

I hate where we are at now.

The same people Will NOT listen to mainstream medical advice.

 

Yes seeing that video of those people in TN threatening a doctor who recommended masking at a public town council meeting was unnerving. These people were unhinged. Same as some from Jan 6th. You could also include some of the more militant or dogmatic BLM protestors, who believe there is an epidemic of police killings of unarmed blacks.

How does it change? I just don't know. Either we tear apart or move towards authoritarianism with media regulation.

 

My last few doctor visits (other than annual physicals) have usually been impact related.

 

I always find it interesting how engineers think they have special insight other sciences and fields of practice, like medicine.

 

Most of this post is lost on me. Not sure I have ever mentioned Hunter Biden.
I already mentioned hitting the age that an annual visit to a PCP is in order.
I do not have any doubts about the vaccine at this point. Fully vaxed for weeks now.
I actually have a doctor to bounce things off of. (I noted knowing people at several levels of the medical field).

None of that has anything to do with me.

My point is that because of people in that field saying things that it does create confusion. A confused person may be pro vaccine in general, but hesitant because of what they were told in THIS case.

Regardless. My point stands. What good comes from belittling and guilting anyone? A couple green checks on a message board?

 

My post wasn't broadly directed at you, and at some levels satirical. However I'm still not sure who these "medical professionals" are that confused you. Seems highly unlikely it was an MD unless you happened to find one of the very small percent who is not on board. The core information has always been out there in support of the vaccine. The test results. The known rare side effects. The efficacy. The skepticism or hesitation had to be from some non reputable source, which should include most medical professionals who are not MDs.

I'm glad you got vaxxed. And glad you now have a primary physician.

On a different issue, I had to go through a similar process. After finding out our son had autism, then reading a bunch of vaccines causes autism stuff, I spoke to our pediatrician and he said unequivocally have them vaxxed, and he said all his kids are vaxxed. At that point, I could go with somebody trained for this, or go down internet rabbit holes. To reassure myself I also dug into some studies that unequivocally refuted some of the anti vaxxers claim. At that time most of the anti vaxxers were crazy liberals.

I've always tried to isolate my political leanings and opinions on issues of importance, such as health medicine and money/investing. This has generally served me well.

 

There is no graphene oxide in mRNA vaccines. Period. To make this claim which is easily disproven tells you all you need to know about this guy's "proof". He is right that coronaviruses were mostly veterinary concerns long before COVID-19, along with a group of researchers. This is a good article from someone with 40 years of coronavirus research before the pandemic ever hit.

It was also well known that many coronaviruses were zoonotic, meaning the virus could switch from species to species. Here's a paper from 2017, again, before the pandemic, describing this phenomenon as a way many coronaviruses can survive.

The research on coronaviruses being done at the Wuhan lab contained genetic tracers that COVID-19 lacks. It's possible, and even likely, that given the poor sanitary conditions in the Wuhan lab, COVID-19 originated in the lab, but it wasn't anything engineered, but a natural zoonotic virus. Which given the fact those studying coronaviruses for years had seen happen before, isn't that big of a surprise.

 

I was never confused. I just wanted to take the time to get the most info. In fact waiting a month longer may have been beneficial as there is recent debate about Moderna maybe being the way to go. (I chose Pfizer)

Again. For many, this is not political. I am talking about people who are making their decision based on what a nurse or an EMT that they trust has told them about concerns of a hasty vax. I know single moms who barely have time to help their kids with homework, much less spend hours researching this stuff. They trust their friend that is a PA or a nurse or whatever is telling them the truth. A lot of people cant make heads or tales of a scientific study.

That's why the "dumbed down" data posted here is so helpful. It gives us a quick reference with links. My family is crazy busy. I can breeze through the links here much faster than hunting them down in what little spare time I do have.

 

Yes, but if we just treat them with love and respect and help them to locate better information, they will accept these truths and change their behaviors for the better.

 

The context of me posting this is that numerous people are giving this guy credence but won't trust actual doctors as well as how it confirms their own bias so they embrace it and then reject any and every other source that debunks his claims. This phenomena is magnified exponentially with social media and 24 hour"news" sources.

It also serves as evidence that many aren't just misinformed as some here claim but willfully misinformed as it justifies their own beliefs which are already set in stone. We have a couple here that have shown time and time again they won't trust or even acknowledge vaccine efficacy but shout the merits of ivermectin over and over regardless of facts.

 

Seems a bit baby with the bathwater-ish though Davis. There are people a million miles from this nonsense that have gotten the same treatment by certain posters here.

It isn't productive in any way.

 

You assume the primary motive for posting on this issue is to convince the skeptic to change his mind. As a general rule I would say that isn't true. Most have no intention of being persuaded. To the extent you may have been you are the rare exception.

My wife has an aquantence who just passed away from covid. She had tested negative twice, finally got an "in home testing kit" and tested positive. Went to hospital where she then passed.

 

That really sucks!

I honestly tried to read that. After shaking my head in disbelief that the writer stated that no one could prove his claims false, I still read on. It was about his second reason when I began laughing at the writer. By the third reason where the writer disparaged viral vaccines as a failures , I simply quit reading . The simple fact is we've had highly effective viral vaccines for decades. The writer lost all credibility at that point.
