now that’s a good point considering they just had 3 OL drafted in one year and our current regime has only had 2 OL drafted in 3 seasons
Kids will wait when they know they will be in the hunt for the national championship, have the spotlight on them a ton, and more than likely end up playing in the league
If you’re sitting, you’re not good enough to play. Doesn’t really matter where you are. If you can’t start on our line, you damn sure aren’t transferring to play for Bama or Georgia.
Then otoh Hev is 2 of 2 of OL for this year playing in the NFL with Heggie grading out above any of the Bama OL in the first games of the preseason. I was not enamored by Heggie, but Hev did make his guys NFL ready, which may mean more over a lifetime than the guaranteed money of the draft.
We should start this year having a good OL. I do think it takes most that long to be ready to play well. Will see if this works out for us starting now.

the OL may or may not ever be THEE strength of the team but also as long as they aren’t the weakness, they’ll be fine. Some may say “well it was only FAU” and that’s fine and correct but on the FLIPSIDE, those same folks would be saying “gosh we couldn’t even doninate freaking FAU” if our OL struggled Saturday night so they can’t have it both ways. The OL came away healthy, Braun got a fair share of snaps as OL #6 and Egaukun showed he is ready
OL was mostly good in the game. I too thought Egaukun looked pretty good for a first time starter. I only saw one instance where I thought he got pushed back and of course a couple of errant snaps (one of them he was fortunate it was to the taller AR than to EJ). I thought Reese looked better as did Delance. I was disappointed a bit with White. Sometimes he looked like he was anchoring instead of driving. I hope he is fully fit. I didn't see a big difference when Braun spelled Reese. I think we can do stuff against SEC teams, but I am interested to see Gouraige and Delance on third and long against SEC teams, when the threat of the run has no effect and they can pin their ears back or will teams just rush 3 and look for a pick?
exactly what im interested in seeing and your overall assessment is how I viewed it as well. White didn’t play bad, just seemed rusty out there but he has the talent to improve and im sure he will. Along with your desire to see how the OT’s respond on obvious passing downs in league play, I too want to see how they handle obvious running downs in short yardage situations in league play and im sure we’ll have that answered in a few weeks one way or another.
And I am expecting better on short yardage unless we have more injuries. Miller was pretty good on short yardage plays. If we can get another backer to plug holes, I think we will be good.
We heard that Delance was a much better run blocker than pass blocker. Saturday seemed to reflect that.
The take away is our OL in recent years wasnt dominating much of anybody, even FAU of the world. This year, thy dominated. That is improvement. We will see how good they are in 2 weeks.
The right side of the team's offensive line has had the most continuity, with right tackle Jean Delance and right guard Stewart Reese as the team's returning starters, the Gators averaged just 2.55 yards per carry. Whereas the team performed well behind the left tackle and left guard, averaging 7.67 yards per carry.
I hear ya but you just ignore the 16 average around Delance because AR hit a long one? Or did Delance have a part in that.
I thought Delance did well. Not sure how this is tracked as those guards pull to the other side as well.
No doubt that Reese helped a big part on the left side with at least two pulls that sprung good runs.
