He has a really nice swing and from the left side. Good chance he makes some serious money playing this game.
As opposed to previous years I have a lesser idea how good we might be next year. Part of this is due to the rather larger than normal turnover of personnel. That's college baseball for you. Also last year's under performance coupled with talk of some players dogging it has taken some of my enthusiasm, deadened it. Not happy saying this but it is sadly true.
5220– I understand your disappointment but under no circumstances can we allow anything thought to be negative from last year affect our desire and drive as coaches, players, or fans to rebound to the true standard of what Gator Baseball is…… Let’s do this Gators! But that’s just me….
I'm really liking that fall game on Oct 23 against Ga So. The football team is off that day so not much going on in town. Soccer has a game the next day and volleyball is off that weekend. I'm not sure about softball scheduling anything for fall yet. It seems the UAA actually thought this one through for once.
Do we know when fall scrimmages begin and whether they are open to public? Full house at the Swamp so no reason for closed scrimmages.
I would expect some noise on that one in a few weeks about the October start date. I'd guess its about 2-3 weeks before the first exhibition so somewhere near Oct 2th but no later than the 9th. Gatorjjh usually comes thru on the details.
Here's an article about the new players, not much to see here. But here is the most interesting statement that tweaked my interest. Gators Ranked No. 2 in Baseball America's 2021 Top Recruiting Classes - Florida Gators Stay tuned for more information regarding Florida's 2021 fall baseball schedule, as details will be provided on FloridaGators.com in the coming weeks.
A bit concerned about hitting next year. We lost some of our best bats. Reading thru Perfect Games write ups of our recruits only two have been cited for their hitting- Catcher Rene Lastres and Jud Fabians brother, Derec.
Here's much better info on fall ball. It begins Oct 12. No word on open practices. More details to come. Florida and Georgia to Rekindle Exhibition Game, Gators Begin Fall Season Oct. 12 - Florida Gators
It seems they will only have 11 days before the first fall exhibition. Seems short even though its Ga So.
Which of the incoming class will turn out to star for us? There are so many newcomers at all positions. We have to replace two weekend starting pitchers. Can any of the class rise up to this challenge? Not sure I've ever seen so many pitchers coming in in the same class one being highly ranked Philip Abner who said no to the pros. Lefty. A fave of mine is multi-position pitcher, first baseman Jack Caglianone. Another lefty who can also hit. At 6-5 he could really be good defensively at his first base position. Unfortunately, he had to undergo Tommy John surgery and will not play this year. I was looking forward to seeing him. Another intriguing pitcher is Is Pierce Coppola from New Joisey. 6-8 lefty who also said no to the pros. We have 2-3 outfielders in the class who've been timed as fast as Jud Fabian. That's saying something. One outfielder is Matthew Prevesk from Apopka. Has anyone seen him play? Have any of you seen any members of this class play? Any comments? No question, Fall Practice will be interesting.
20 days and counting until the start of Fall Practice 2021. Has anyone heard if practice will be open?
