i hear you but they’re going to hold onto Hunter who’s the best HS player in the country. I hear you though and me and a few others share your sentiment of dont just assume their class is gonna pull a UT from last year and just all decommit. Personally, idc what their class does as long as we do what we’re suppose to do on the field and get better on the recruiting trail
Hey, this was FSUs biggest win of the year. I mean that. They will finish like 5-7 yet still remember how they valiantly lost at home on opening night to an over rated ND team to a QB who, after transferring from that air raid offense from Wisconsin (note sarcasm) was held to a career high 370 yards passing and 4 touchdowns. Close loss in a good game is now a win for FSU. Lol When FSU beat #5 NC at home last year it was the catalyst to a bounce back season in 2020 and led to an amazing recruiting class. oh, wait, they finished 3-7? Let me check those notes again..didn’t finish in top 20 in recruiting even after that huge win vs NC at home on national tv with a great environment? Can’t be! Didn’t even have a single recruit ranked in the top 250 make it to campus? How is this possible? Oh, because one game early in the year doesn’t have the influence some people think it does.
I'm not talking about one close game early in the season. I'm talking about a shift in player mentality. The class they have right now is after 3 terrible, terrible seasons where their players quit and threw emotional tantrums when they got down. I would LOVE to be wrong and see them collapse again this year, but i don't see it
Not saying u are wrong but it’s one game. I remember a few years ago when Dan lost to UK early that some people (one in particular) on here were saying that FSU was in a better position than UF and Taggart’s players were buying in more than UFs (I’m paraphrasing ofc). I agree they looked better but a lot of that was due to the narcoleptic ND DC who ran a three man dime package for three straight possessions when they had the Noles offense and Jordan locked down for all intents and purposes prior to that.
Right?! What on earth was ND defense doing in 4th Q? Also, ND tried to get too cute in first half with flea flickers etc when they could’ve just ran their offense and methodically beat them down. Then two big plays and fsu is in the game. ND was somehow out coached despite Norvell’s terrible decisions. fsu not folding after being down 18 was surprising and the biggest takeaway from the night unfortunately. Just remember, especially after getting another look at their fans in the stadium, that they’re complete trash. And the INSTITUTION covered up a rape for football wins.
One game can lead to momentum. FSU can definitely benefit from this. For those that say we played Alabama close…you can’t have it both ways. Regardless of what you think of ND they were in the playoffs last year.
The way it played out is definitely a net positive for their program IF they get to the UNC game with only one loss. Lose to any of the tomato cans before that and it's meaningless.
Both teams showed their Achilles heels last night, and unless they both get a lot better, they could be in for a long season and make this game look meaningless.
same thing I saw. ND looked sooo unathletic while FSU D is going to be poor as will the passing game regardless of who’s at QB for them. We’ll beat them by 3 touchdowns
ND is not likely to make the playoffs this year, and if they do, will be summarily shown the exit door--as usual. It was the first game of the season, at home for the Noles, and ND's coaches blew it. Thrown in some crappy officiating, and you get a close game. I'm not sure that I would read too much into this game, but it will be hard to tell if FSU really has improved, considering they basically play no one.
Before the college season started i really taught that UF had a chance or at least play a very competetive game against Alabama. mainly for two reasons, one because the game is at home and the other one because Alabama having so many new players including a new QB, but after watching UF against FAU unless they improve day and night against South Fla the Gators only chance against Alabama will be if Alabama don't show up and forfeit the game.
i dont think we’re at THAT level to sandbag and even if we did, offensively at least, it wasn’t as if we were executing the vanilla offense to perfection and blew them out with pure athleticism. I think he called the O but we just didnt execute to extend drives
How about the QBs missing wide open receivers everywhere, was that on Mullen not showing the offense too?
I think it is overblown that we played poorly, mostly because of EJ. DL looks possibly dominant. LB may have quality and depth we haven't seen despite way too much substitution in the game. Secondary, too early to tell because of how young they are, and who is good that we will face this year? Bama and UK? TE: Should be a good unit, especially in run blocking OL: similar as last year in not being elite but good enough at what we do best to let our playmakers do their thing. RB solid but saw nothing special including from Bowman and Lingard WR: BG is the man again. We have the size and strength at WR to complement the run. QB: reverse of last year. We will be able to run on everyone to some degree, but not enough to open the passing game unless EJ shows he is someone he hasn't been to this point. What I saw is if we minimize mistakes, we can be a very good ball control team who can be in every game if our secondary can or will be allowed to shut down explosive plays.
