You have to play with some of the settings to get a specific state or age group.

Here is Florida hospitalization rates for 0-17 years (on the left, on the right it shows all age groups):

 

Yeah, we just don't have enough data to make too thorough of an analysis. For instance:

Deaths were higher then than now = "see vaccinations are working"
Deaths are higher now than then = "see this new variant is a greater threat"

vs.

Deaths were higher then than now = "see this new variant isn't even as big of a threat"
Deaths are higher now than then = "see the vaccinations aren't having much of an impact"

My point here is just that we need to be careful of making too much of the data given how limited the data collectors have been with providing information. 95 asked about death counts, and I should have just left it at that.

Thanks, had forgotten about this. It's maddening how inconsistent the data points have been. This graph shows 0-17; the state tracked using 14 as an upper limit through the Spring of this year. Over the summer they use 15 as an upper limit. It's worth nothing that the peak in the Spring (~0.6 on that graph) wasn't remotely a concern on the pediatric side of things (certainly not locally). It's hard to consider that an increase of less than 1 per 100,000 changes that much, but of course, it would be nice to get ICU data and other relevant severity data as well.

So you are appealing to authority with the head of the agency that you have trashed consistently on this thread? As others have pointed out, you are obviously and, at this point, intentionally, misrepresenting her quote, but it is worth pointing out the ridiculousness of the guy who has trashed the CDC consistently on this thread whenever they say something he doesn't like trying to appeal to their authority now.

 

Thus you've found why that poster is the only one I have ever put on ignore on any site. I highly recommend it as I found logic, facts and truth are completely meaningless to that one.

 

Almost like winning is more important than learning truth for that poster.

 

I have trashed the CDC on policy and some of their use of "studies" to make policy. Why would the head of the cdc make up numbers about pediatric covid hospitalizations and then blame RSV? It's ok to be wrong. I was wrong on car deaths during covid and most likely wrong on suicides(most likely, will know in about 6-9 months). But compared to you, who was wrong on lockdowns, school closures and masks, i'll gladly take anyone's opinion on covid over yours. You hit the trifecta their pal. Good job with that one. Real hot streak.

As I said before, just treat him like a someone else’s bratty kid seeking attention. Ignore.

 

But the CDC director says I was right about masks, and since you are currently appealing to her authority, I must have been right, correct? Or are you appealing to the authority of somebody you have trashed consistently in the ultimate sign that Phil is right and none of this is really about trying to be right but about your own needs to "win?"

 

Also, in looking at the image on the right, it looks like the beginning of a promising decline for all age groups.

Wow, I guess if someone is wrong about a few things then they are wrong about everything. Good way to go thru life. So then by that measure you aren't to be believed on anything since you were a joke for being on the side of lockdowns, school closures and masks. Good job. Point noted, I won't take anything you say ever again as right, since that's what you are arguing for. What a joke. You really got me there.

 

Haha, so basically, she is right if (when you think) she supports your position but wrong when she doesn't. In this instance, right appears to be a synonym for "agrees with you." Indeed, what a joke.

 

See, I'm not so set in my beliefs that if a person says something that's wrong that they are to never be believed again. Would suck if people treated you that way, because no one would believe a word coming out of your mouth after the past 18 months of being constantly wrong.

This is good data on how no students at Duke are currently hospitalized for covid, yet they are going into hysterics.
