Yeah, facts aren't some people's strong point. RSV hospitalizations do happen. Happen often. Don't listen to some posters who have an agenda.

Even assuming that the Delta variant doesn't cause more severe disease, because it is much more infectious than the original strain many more children will become infected resulting in more cases and consequently more severe cases. Using hypothetical numbers if roughly 2% of children develop severe cases and significantly more children (also applies to adults for that matter) contract the disease, significantly more children will be contracting severe cases even if the probability of contracting a severe case remains the same for each child who does contract a case of Covid-19.

Curious if you feel the same way about he vaccinated that spread this virus to someone else?

It amazes me the some want to imply only unvaccinated can spread this and “hurt” people.

    That mindset is a problem.

I mean we have the CDC and the AAP saying this isn't happening. But you go ahead and post an anecdotal story of how an idiot teacher thought masking while sick with covid symptoms would prevent kids from getting covid(who were masked). So all that shows me is don't go to work sick. Also, get vaccinated as an adult. Besides that not sure what else to learn from that except masks sure didn't help those kids.

Strawman alert. Please indicate the text you quoted that in any way implies AZcat contends that "only unvaccinated can spread this and “hurt” people. "
Perhaps you just misread his post?

RSV is usually an autumn and winter disease, and most hospitalizations are those 65 and older. Here are the 2018 numbers. And here's a paper looking at just RSV published in 2017. 99% of deaths from RSV in kids are usually in developing countries, and is rarely an issue unless there is an underlying condition in the patient like asthma. Or there is a coinfection that can complicate things, like another respiratory infection. Like COVID.

    You live in Ocala, right?

I know someone who lives there who is a doctor at UF/Shands. She, and the 20 fellow doctors in their chat, report the same thing-- virtually everyone in their hospitals with COVID and those who die, are unvaccinated. They are angry.

Have you seen the statistics on hospitalizations among the vaccinated versus the non-vaccinated?

Do you understand that the reason we got rid of lockdowns was the efficacy of the vaccines?

The idea that if the virus was passed, that people would not suffer severe illness or death?

You want to wait 2, 4 or 8 years?

Good luck that COOVID 19 doesn't find you. And, better luck to your family and you if it does.

I just hope people do not listen to the disinformation you post.

when you put yourself at risk of death needlessly you make a wrong decision for anybody that cares about you or has to care for you. Not getting the current vaccine is doing exactly that. I fail to understand how otherwise intelligent people can come to any other conclusion.

nobody is saying that. the reality is that 1out of 3 vaccinated that receive significant exposure spread for 5 days or so, 100% unvaccinated that receive significant exposure spread for 2 - 3x as long and at a higher viral load. Vax or not, we should all be wearing masks and social distancing to cut the spread. you seem more interested in defending your position than being part of the solution

Simple question for you (I hope anyway): who all should be getting vaccinated at this point in time?

For example, do you think that a healthy male like Q, who posts in this thread, (assuming he doesn’t have a medical reason prohibiting from doing so) should get vaccinated?

Do you agree with the shit he posts in these threads? Or are you an actual advocate for the vaccine?

You only pick fights with pro vaccine posters. You sit silently after he posts moronic post after moronic post. Why?

    Who has the agenda?

Quoted myself to clarify I am not mocking the deceased. I made my quip with regard to our resident "healthy people don't need the vaccine because we don't know long term side effects" crowd here.

I’ve said repeatedly that every adult should get vaccinated if they haven’t had a positive antibody test. It’s really that simple. Q should get vaccinated if he hasn’t already had Covid. I don’t pick fights. I’m very civil as long as the other poster is civil to me. But there is clear misinformation going on here and I’ve posted statements from the vice chair of the AAP and the head of the CDC saying delta isn’t more dangerous to kids than the other variants. So let’s get on board and stop posting gotcha headlines. Thats what sells and some on here buy it.

You've misquoted the vice chair of the AAP and the head of the CDC.
