The killer was that we had young talent on the line, with no spring and limited summer/fall practice, then right into an all-SEC schedule. Not a recipe for success.
4Roswell; It has been stated on TOS that Jamari Lyons wants to commit on October 6th, which is his Mother's birthday. Whether he has given the UF Coaching Staff his decision privately or not is unknown, however IMHO we are not telling him to wait until we hear from McClellan and Nolen. He simply has told everyone that 10/6 is the day he will announce his commitment.
so that leaves us with Valentino Dexter back ups Humphries Goods Thomas Watson yea that’s manageable for the first two games but def don’t prefer that against Bama
Watson and Thomas will surprise. Thomas, in my opinion, was one of the better DT’s in high school his senior year. Kid can play!!!
Hate to say it but this means Zach Carter will be sliding inside for sure in some situations. He’s awesome, As we know, wherever he plays but We all know he’s an excellent DE. I could see Lang ( Now Zanders) at 291 sliding inside also. To spell Valentino and Dexter I see ( may be off base) total snaps played at DT against FAU as: Say FAU takes 70 snaps Valentino 35-40 Dexter 35-40 Goods 10 Watson 5 Carter 10 Lang 10 Thomas 5-10 Goods 10-15 Humphries 10-15 McDowell 5 I may off a ton but we will definitely have to spread snaps out and Hopefully if we get a big lied we can play the young guys as we’ve got to stay healthy especially with two guys already on the shelf.
I doubt we see Carter playing any snaps on 1st/2nd downs inside against FAU, if anything maybe on 3rd and long type situations. I hope Carter's day is done after the 1st half!
Those 2 are in the first and second string. We may not need them for the first 2 games of the season, but for sure we need them for the Alabama game.
I guess injuries are part of hard practice but we were hoping to stay really deep on DL with the transfers being added. I hate to think of injuries but whatever. Yes, need a full lineup against Alabama. Needless to say we really need our OL to stay healthy and strong as well.
Adding Truesdell makes a completely different impression regarding the concerns of depth with Newkirk and Lee potentially out for Bama. That said, I never want to see an injury report that says foot injury or shoulder injury for a OL or DL.
From Mullen's Monday presser: 1. Jalen Lee is questionable - means he's out for FAU. If you know that Lee has a long-term injury that would keep him out against bama, spill the beans..... 2. Daquan Newkirk is fine to return to practice and play this week, not questionable or doubtful. Newkirk is going to play on Saturday against FAU so long as he practices this week. There is no reason to think he won't play against bama.
