Thanks, so if you go to the graphs and look back at a date, say June 7, that number could have changed from the original report on June 8th.

Yes. The net effect is that it will always look like deaths are rapidly declining. Given that deaths lag cases by about 2 weeks, and our record for new cases (across the entire pandemic) was August 25th, deaths are going to continue to increase for another couple weeks, but we won't see that reported for another month.

I believe in market economics, when people have good information, they will make good choices. The state of Florida isn't giving us good information, and people are making sub-optimal choices because of that lack of information.

This is the big pharma gozillion dollar profit per year business model at its finest. It's awesome when you're inbedded so deep into our govt and all the fear merchant outlets that you are able to persuade public and private businesses to require your product, under penalty of prevention or termination of employment and in some states, not to be able to live a medical tyranny free life.

To clarify, I wasn't really focused on schools, but I did find the duke study on the masks ability to block droplets as an important one as much of the virus is contained in droplets. I understand the different dynamic with aerosols, but droplets are an issue when not social distancing.

Even with aerosols, even though some can slip through the mask due to size, some can get caught up, plus there is less force projecting the aerosol. If you try to blow with a decent mask on you will feel very little air coming directly out. If that air projecting aerosols forward is less then the projection of aerosols is less. Some will leak out the sides depending on how the mask fits.

Most masks are far from perfect. But they are supposed to be used in conjunction with social distancing and together they reduce, not eliminate the chance of spread.

Who is debating this and why is it important?

Problem is the size of the particles of the virus. It is closer to smoke in size than droplets. Think of someone smoking a cigarette, you have a mask on you still smell that cigarette from a good distance. Doesn't help at all unless you are using a N95 mask and we all know that isn't happening.

The fact that it isn't 100% doesn't mean it's not helping. The projectile force behind the aerosol is less, when combined with social distancing.

It's a pain, but you have to hover your mouse cursor over the graph that shows daily deaths. It will say the number of deaths for the day your cursor is over.

Problem is people don't socially distance when wearing masks thinking that masks help but in reality they most likely cause more damage than help. So yes, masks are useless(unless using a N95 type mask). I mean, we've had 50+ years of research that said masks don't work. IF they worked, trust me there would be a RCT showing how well they work. Most people can't accept the fact we've been doing something that doesn't work for 18+ months now.

Nah, we've talked about it extensively over the last couple of weeks. You can read the thread if you'd like.

I'm open to the possibility that their effectiveness are limited but to say they do nothing, then make the leap they do more harm than good defies evidence and logic.

Personally I think when people wear masks it is a reminder to social distance. If nobody wears masks people think things are back to normal and don't pay attention.

The peak 7 day average is currently at 200 on August 12. So that's 15 days ago. That peak will continue to rise and change days.
