of course they are downplaying it, it did not work. Had it been successful I'm sure Jan 6 would be a new national holiday in their world.

Just because I leave gas cans around the forest doesn’t make me an arsonist. They were there for stranded motorists, right

I guess the new angle is that since it wasn't widely coordinated, not really a big deal. People must really hate this country to say this wasn't a big deal.

    From the same article:

It was the most violent attack on the Capitol since the War of 1812, forcing lawmakers and Trump's own vice president, Mike Pence, to scramble for safety.

Four people died and another died the following day, and more than 100 police officers were injured.

I think it's also that they really really really want validation for their unrighteous anger over an election that was not stolen from them. Acknowledging that the attack on the capitol was an insurrection and not tourism is to concede that they've been wrong this entire time.

Doesn't take much coordination to get an angry mob to do your bidding. Just need to gather the people, gin then up, and point them in the direction you want them to go.

Until now I did not know handicapped people were known antifa sympathizers. But, of course, it’s Oregon sooooo.

When I see the conclusion regarding a lack of evidence of coordination, I think:

Absolutely. That is plainly why the Trumpers were so focused on him. I fear for his life

On the eve of the House's investigation of the Jan 6th insurrection Rep. Jim Jordan now admits he spoke to trump "multiple times" on Jan 6th.Previously said he only spoke one time. Still won't say what about. He is in need of a good crisis manager. Look for him to be a witness now. The big questions are will he appear if requested or will it take a subpeona and will he tell the truth? I think its "no" on both of those.
Jim Jordan admits to multiple calls with Trump on 1/6, spurring renewed calls for subpoenas

Representative Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, admitted that he spoke with former President Donald Trump "more than once" on the phone during the violent pro-Trump insurrection targeting the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

Jordan had previously said that he was one of several Republican lawmakers who spoke to Trump at least once during the events of January 6. But the staunch Trump loyalist confirmed to Politico that there were multiple calls between him and the then president on that day, the publication reported on Sunday.

"Look, I definitely spoke to the president that day. I don't recall—I know it was more than once, I just don't recall the times," Jordan told Politico. The congressman said he was "sure" that at least one of the calls took place while he and other lawmakers were hunkered down in a safe room "because we were in that room forever."

Politico also reported that Representative Matt Gaetz, a Florida Republican, joined Jordan on one of those calls. But Jordan did not confirm this, saying he had to "think about it." A spokesperson for Gaetz told the publication "Congressman Gaetz speaks with President Trump regularly and doesn't disclose the substance of those discussions with the media."

They will ignore congressional subpoenas with impunity, it's what they do.
