Then how was it a "walk-out"?

I think I have made it pretty clear that instead of shaming people for having a different way to navigate this and start focusing on all the ways to attack the virus is how to work together.

The vaccine might be right for you. But not for your neighbor. Instead of judging someone for making a different decision. We should be focused on the reality that there are different ways to navigate this. And that same thought holds for the other side.

Unfortunately I am not optimistic we will get to a point where we are working together.

No, there aren't alternatives. There is no working together there with people who are unwilling to accept facts. They have rejected pretty much all viable prevention strategies.

We were never going to hit herd immunity. The delta variant was already afoot long before we were going to be able to hit herd immunity. The crazy thing is I think people truly believe that if we got to 70% vaccinated that this thing would have been over. And that is just not the case. We were going to need north of 90% likely and even then the reality that this is global will be why it likely becomes endemic.

People are going to make and should be able to make health decisions for themselves. As much as people should not smoke. We do not force them to quit. As much as people overeat. We do not force them to eat healthy and exercise. When the obese person turns down the vaccine. We should not force them to take it either.

Why do I need to ask those questions about the data? It isn't needed to understand what to do. At some point asking questions is just a deflection and an excuse. As long as people have unanswered questions they have reason to not comply. If questions AR answered they just ask more questions.

No. Nobody said that. And you know it. You are being willfully dense at this point. How can I work together on with someone who throws out crap like this?

You have been presented data over and over that shows vaccines greatly reduce serious illness, but instead you continue to misinterpret Israel and other data as an excuse. Then you make ridiculous irrelevant statements like the one above.

You flat implied that the unvaccinated are the problem and they refuse to take safety measures. "They have rejected pretty much all viable prevention strategies."

There are a lot of unvaccinated that have not gotten covid because they do take viable prevention strategies. You are the one that is being dense in this case as it is clear that you refuse to accept a person make the decision to not take a drug that is new. Wanes much quicker than expected. And all for a disease that may not be that dangerous to them. Does that mean they go out to covid parties and say bring it on? Absolutely not. But you are the one that is throwing out the idea that imply only the unvaccinated are the problem.

Given the hesitancy in some African American communities, I find that 91% number very difficult to believe.

It isn't "new". Billions of doses administered. Now fully approved.

It doesn't wane much faster than expected. There was no definitive expectation. And it isn't exactly clear how much it's waning.

More lack of self awareness -- you're the king of personal attacks. And again, if you'd actually read my post that you responded to, you'd know that I wasn't asking about DeSantis. You're the one who changed the subject to DeSantis. Actually read the post next time.

To help with those who seek such answers.

So what is the threshold of *damage* to 5-11 year olds that warrant them needing a vaccine? Have we crossed the threshold? Or is this just about spread? If it's just about spread, then are children who have already had COVID in need of getting vaccinated to prevent spread? If you say none of that matters, then I say fine, don't push for a vaccination for 5-11 year olds. The information is only relevant if there is such a push or if one may ever be considered.

For some, but that doesn't justify penalizing those who won't deflect but are genuinely interested in learning more.

It's not all or nothing, though. Some questions have answers that can be useful. Some questions may never have an acceptable answer to some. But there are a number of folks in the middle that are within reach and willing to consider the data honestly...they just need access to it in a useable format.

Scientific knowledge is built on asking more questions when some get answered. This concept is part of education, not something to be frustrated by...certainly not something to discourage.

. Yes it ls. Those doctors are exposed every day to the virus by those who choose to increase their risk.

Again, without any leverage, what behavior do they think they will change? Or if you believe they have leverage, what do you think it is? I have no problem with a doctor deciding an environment is too risky for him/her. Everybody should have the freedom to make that choice. I think you are misunderstanding the challenge to what was presented, but I'd love to hear more of your take on this.

I’m sure there’s a lot of frustration out there (actually I know of it). But that’s a bit messed up since that appears to be a hospital setting? They might have to start making tough choices, but “walking out” isn’t a good move IMO. Maybe this is them telling their hospital to start making some of those tough choices?

Not the same as the doctor who told his own individual patients to go get vaccinated or find another doctor. Actually that was a good tactic, I would hope more doctors go that way.
