Oh I agree that there is some degree of lagging here, but with the current situation and a low death rate 48 days into a massive spike something else is at play here

The number of pills taken is the number to count, not the number produced.

No one is saying that ivermectin is a cure, but it has been widely shown as an effective treatment that should not be dismissed by media or by a review of some studies by Cochrane Labs.

Florida shows 8 deaths for today but the actual number is going to be well higher than that. Florida is reporting a small number of deaths on a lot of days and then dumping hundreds of deaths on a single day. I don't know why they started doing it this way, most likely for political reasons.

As for Ohio, their daily deaths have been pretty low so far so it won't make much difference even when they do report the deaths that occurred today.

There is a lag for deaths and with more than half the country vaccinated the death rate is going to be lower. Vaccinated people do get covid but die from it at much lower rates.

Also, look at the UK. Their delta spike started well before ours. But their death rates are running much lower than they were for the previous spikes (like 10 times lower). The UK has a higher vaccination rate than the US does so their covid death rate will be lower. If more people got vaccinated in the US, fewer people would die. It's that simple.

I believe the front line nurses, especially those who are vaxed. What % of American nurses do you think are vaxed, rick?

The lower death rate is because the people getting sick are younger and healthier. Older more vulnerable people are vaccinated. When they get sick, they don’t get severe and fatal cases because of the vaccines. But there are so many people being infected now that the hospitals are filling and people dying. Younger than before. Overwhelmingly unvaccinated. That is what the number show.

First waves, COVID cycle was about 6 weeks from infection to death. The extra week could be due to the fact the average COVID age in the hospital has dropped. The elderly are mostly vaxxed, and there have been significantly more 30 - 59 year olds in the hospital this round. Since they are younger, they likely fight and hold out longer, which is why death is taking longer.

Still, the 1000 deaths today are a portend of more.

As to why the anger against the unvaxxed? I want this crap to end. Reaching herd immunity through vaccination is the safest and fastest way. I want COVID-19 to be included in the history books with polio and smallpox. And as long as there is a significant unvaccinated population, this will never happen.

USF researchers: Florida will reach peak of COVID surge next week; herd immunity Sept. 11

New data run through University of South Florida computer models predicts the rate of new COVID infections to peak next week and the state to reach herd immunity Sept. 11.

"The peak will occur Aug 24 – a week from now, so we are very close to the peak of the current wave," said epidemiologist Dr. Edwin Michael of USF's College of Public Health.

Michael said shortly after reaching that peak in new cases on august 24, the number of people who either have been infected or have covid resistance – will reach 90% - which means Florida will reach herd immunity.

"Sept 11 or something like that -- we'll get herd immunity," said Michael.

What the delta variant is doing to fully vaccinated people now (msn.com)

    • “New research studies in the United States, Israel, Britain and Qatar have shown a partial erosion in the effectiveness of vaccines against mild to moderate infections,” according to The Washington Post.
      • The data show that there were “higher percentages of total hospitalizations and deaths than had been previously observed” in vaccinated people, too, according to The New York Times
        • “Remember when the early vaccine studies came out, it was like nobody gets hospitalized, nobody dies,” he told The New York Times. “That clearly is not true.”

Thanks for repeating what we all know already. The vaccines are less effective at preventing asymptomatic infection with Delta, and on occasion breakthrough infections land vaccinated in the hospital, usually those with serious comorbidities. Nonetheless the vaccines are still highly effective against hospitalization and death.

Then you aren't trying very hard.

FFS how long are *we* going to keep quoting observational associations that have since been dismissed to the inclusion fraudulent data?

Any time but don't lie almost none of you believed this initially . Since most on here originally claimed this was and savior along with mask, obviously this isn't the case. Natural immunity is and always has been more effective. I do believe potentially better vaccines are on the way. There's plenty of great treatments for covid that's been available for along time , no reason for people to be dying or getting real sick. Politics and money are the blame
