I haven't followed FL closely like you have, but if the state was reporting data earlier but no longer making such info available, this would seem a political decision. One that it makes sense to look at the very top for answers. But heck, wes, even if RD didn't give the order, it would not surprise me if it came from someone within his purview, with a little wink wink nod nod. I don't know this as fact, admittedly.

All I was getting at with HIPAA is that it impedes any quick release of detailed data that is often protected in various ways by law. Other folks gave a good explanation why upthread imo.

Muccinex D is a godsend and worth every penny. The generic version works for me as well which is cheaper or I just buy the name brand stuff in bulk at Bjs

Legal/ethical. Interestingly, it does not appear that HIPPA applies to employers, though I'm not entirely sure. Disclosure of an employee's medical information might violate other federal/state laws. It might also be prohibited per the state educator code of ethics. Under the given circumstances, and administrator could perhaps obtain written consent from the employees' family to disclose said info.

Respiratory syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms.

Depending on how the information was obtained, it may not be an issue legally, but I also believe the state has laws in addition to HIPAA (not a lawyer, but I'll leave it to them to tell me how bad I butchered it). I don't understand the ethical objection. Doesn't the greater good outweigh the personal privacy?

I think in many cases, you're right, esp. as related to matters of public health. In this specific case, though, I do not think there is a greater good, as two deaths would be anecdotal. Ethical because disclosing these individuals' vax choice could result in politicization or even harassment. Again, though, it might not be a legal or ethical breach if proper consent was granted.

Sad, but probably true. We've seen people be mean-spirited about both decisions not to vaccinate and decisions to vaccinate. I don't think the culprit is in the revealing of the information, but I understand where you are coming from.

Even if that is the curve, it will still be high for a long time, not back to before till November. But it will start receding

Talking to my niece yesterday, three nurses in NICU went down with covid this week. Offering 75 an hour for anyone with certs to come in or pick up extra shifts.
Staffing levels often get overlooked in the mask vs freedumb debate. When there is no one on the bench to send in …..

For what its worth when work comp patient information is sent to their employers they get a redacted version of the patients history that has information deemed sensitive or not pertinent removed. Not sure how vaccine history plays into that.

I know that I have posted before, but my retired mother, who is 80 and is legally blind in one eye still gets calls from hospital systems. She had the honor (no one else was dumb enough I guess) to help set up one of the very first Intensive Care Units in a New Jersey hospital in Newark and I guess that catches the attention of recruiters BEFORE they read "Retired" or "Age = 80". :D

That is actually pretty interesting. Maybe I should re-state and say that it used to move nearly in lock-step with the flu during fall/winter which is why many cases likely go undetected/reported. While the Y axis does not translate into cases, it shows some spike activity starting in Aug/2019. Thanks.

So I’m at urgent care w/my wife. She’s being examined right now. Chest congestion, sore throat, and headache.

Tested neg for covid on Monday and on the Monday before that. But she also just traveled back from Japan 11 days ago. So who knows. She’s been vaxxed since March or I think late Feb.
