Don't know what you mean by me "not willing to look at the big picture," but I've looked at the factual, evidence-based, scientific picture throughout. Of course I dismissed the video that you and others posted - it's been completely debunked. You've been wrong about masks throughout the pandemic. If you've posted a single veritable statement, link, or video in relation to Covid-19, I haven't seen it. But hey, it's your right to post what you believe.

The powers that be have done a poor job of conveying these points, together. You ask any family practice doctor, and they say they it's not a big deal for most. In the hospitals, is where we get the commentary, and that is where folks see the worst of the effects.

Why aren't we seeing more about the data on people that end up in the hospital (I mean more than just vax or no-vax, but what other health issues do they have...if they have none, how active are they, what are their vitamin D levels, anything else that might produce variation)? Some of the information should be incredibly easy to compile and produce, but not only is it not being produced, but there's no mention of even a call for such data.

There should be MUCH more data presented with respect to impact on children. Some areas mention an increase in ICU for pediatrics...what age groups? why are those areas different than others (no stress on GAINESVILLE pediatrics the last I was told)?

There's still to much talk about "case count" rather than impact considerations and the numbers involved with ratios and what not. There's also plenty of folks who have had COVID, but very little information given to them in terms of known re-infection rates along with accompanying factors that warrant consideration. The COVID stuff is still WAY too political. I'm done with "anti-vaxxers" not willing to learn more, but I'm also done with the shout at the clouds crowd and belittling of those who are some level of hesitancy towards getting vaxxed.

Delta Is Bad News for Kids

child hospitalizations have now reached an all-time pandemic high. In the last week of July, nearly 72,000 new coronavirus cases were reported in kids—almost a fifth of all total known infections in the U.S., and a rough doubling of the previous week’s stats. “It’s the biggest jump in the pandemic so far” among children, Lee Beers, the president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, told me. Last week, that same statistic climbed to nearly 94,000.

“It’s been surreal this past month,” Evelyn Obregon, a pediatric resident at the University of Florida Shands Children’s Hospital, told me. “I’ve never seen this many COVID-positive cases.” Her state is consistently reporting among the highest numbers of pediatric coronavirus cases in the country. Obregon has grown accustomed to treating about five kids with COVID-19 a night; last year, a more usual number was one. In mid-July, she treated a 2-year-old gripped with fever and dehydration. “I was shocked,” she told me. “I had never seen a toddler getting infected like this before.” Her patients are only getting younger, sometimes just weeks old. Most of her patients, she said, are from unvaccinated families.

In recent weeks, Arkansas Children’s—the only pediatric hospital system in Arkansas, where vaccine uptake has been especially sluggish—has admitted far more children than at any other point in the pandemic, Jessica Snowden, the hospital’s chief of pediatric infectious disease, told me. “All of them are unvaccinated.” Last year, she said, she and her colleagues considered it a bad day when they had five to seven kids with COVID-19 in their hospital. Now they’re routinely caring for 20 or 30, nearly half of whom are under 12.

Haven't seen data, but anecdotally the reports are more younger and middle-aged people in the hospital. That is a broad (media) anecdote, but the people I know that work in the hospital setting see it the same way, so it checks out.

That was actually the case already even before Delta, it had already shifted away from the elderly, but they were mostly dealing with overweight people. I asked what the typical person was, and they basically would describe "Younger, fatter". That was the case 6 months ago, or even 1 month ago. But now we are hearing more cases of random, otherwise healthy people being effected. People in their 30's and 40's starting to pile in. I'm sure there's still people in other categories (elderly, obese), but instead of people in their 30's and 40's being extremely rare, it sounds like they are more commonly seeing them (and yeah, I'd bet most are unvaccinated). Would be nice to see some concrete data. You can say the same for pediatric patients, I don't know anyone involved in pediatric care, but saw some reports locally that they are seeing more patients at the children's hospital (that it's doubled since Friday).

Lee Health CEO describes COVID-19 crisis as 'bleaker by the day'

The numbers are still quite low for children (if FL's numbers of 179 hospitalized children are to be believed), but any increase of hospitalizations or ICU for children is especially alarming, esp considering the school year is just getting going.

That's just it, the date for the children is more crucial because they are not allowed to make decisions for themselves, and the burden is on the parents. Why aren't people clamoring for the production of as much information as is possible before suggesting that "kids should get vaccinated" or what have you. In our area, not even every pediatrician (even within UF Health) is on board with encouraging vaccinations (let alone mandating them). The lack of communication is inexcusable.

    Alachua County COVID-19 Dashboard

Alachua County has a dashboard that shows pediatric hospitalizations. But it only goes back to August 5th. Why not produce the information going back to the start of last year? When January came around, and nobody was sweating in-person school, what were the numbers then? Was it safe? If so, how do those numbers compare to now...at least for the kids?

How do the pediatric hospitalization rates compare now vs. at any other time during the pandemic?
Are the mitigation efforts presented to children who are suspected to be positive as effective?
Are there any similarities in children who present more strenuous symptoms of COVID?
What is the average "at home" time with symptoms before a child's hospitalization?
When we call children "healthy," what is being evaluated in that label? What may not be being evaluated that may have an impact on COVID symptoms?

We don't even have unanimous agreement among UF Health pediatricians that children should get vaccinated...how about a town hall on that discussion?

Why the stranglehold on information? What is the upside?

Can you present evidence of disagreement among physicians on vaccination children for covid?

I've mentioned on here before, but our children's pediatrician does not recommend COVID vaccination for children.

Including children over 12? The vaccination is not approved for less than 12, yet, so of course they wouldn't recommend it for those 12 and under.

The fact that your physician has a particular opinion (which isn't exactly clear) isn't representative of some broad trend of doctors being hesitant of covid vaccine for children.

    Yes.

Honestly, with all we have been through with this pediatrician, I couldn't care less what another doctor has to say if it disagrees with our doctor's take.

Your turn to answer: What's the upside in not producing the data?
