If we were a country we would be in 13th place on overall number of medals.

I remember in 84 the announcer at the swamp would introduce our Olympians at football games and say something similar. I think it may have been 11th though.

Caleb Dressel now stands with the all time great Olympians. He Has to be included on the list of greatest Gators of all time across all sports. He is In Emmitt Smith territory. Likely would have been 6 golds, but one swimmer in the relay we didn’t medal in had an equipment issue that killed to race. It is Great to be a Florida Gator!

Despite the equipment issue, Jacoby had a beautiful swim, but for some reason, the US was the only team that put a female in that segment. This was against Great Britain’s Adam Peaty, the world record holder.

That’s where the race was lost….lineup issues.

Well, the only bright spot of the US women’s soccer loss today is that the two gators on the Canadian team are guaranteed medals.

For anyone who wonders about the pressure these guys are under, gator long jumper Marquis Dendy didn’t make it out of qualifying. He posted this after.

The 13 number is deceiving, it’s really 11 if you want to compare us to countries. Reason being we are counting the softball silver three times.
But we are guaranteed two more from Canadian soccer (one more in a country comparison), plus hope still from several more Gators before it’s over. Will be a great gator Olympics regardless.
