Here's some speculative good news about where we will be in 3 weeks. Delta tends to hit fast and hard, and then burn out. At least that's been the experience in India and UK, admittedly a small sample size (need to always remember that we cannot fully predict this thing or overlearn from limited data).

Looking at graphs, India peaked around 5/7 with 401K daily infections. Now down to about 30K daily. UK started increasing around 5/19, when the low was 2K/day, to 7/20, when it hit 46K/day. They have been on a down trend and are now at 24K a day. We started increasing on 6/20, when we had a low around 11K daily cases, still on uptrend at 23K daily cases. But if we assume we are about 1 month behind UK, and that's a very rough assumption, we should start decreasing in 2-3 weeks, at least in the geographical area where it first broke out (we are too spread out geographically for uniform national trends). Gut is that Florida is 1-2 weeks behind nation in time, though lead in quantity!!!!

I was just looking at this myself. If it's around 2 months from start to peak, Florida has another 2 to 4 weeks of rising cases. Given where we are at now, that's really bad. Hopefully FL will have a shorter spike than India and the UK had.

Required herd immunity to suppress Delta is closer 90% due to higher rate of transmission.

Delta Variant Spread Seen Pushing Covid Herd Immunity Threshold Above 80% - Bloomberg

The spread of the delta coronavirus variant has pushed the threshold for herd immunity to well over 80% and potentially approaching 90%, according to an Infectious Diseases Society of America briefing on Tuesday.

That represents a “much higher” bar than previous estimates of 60% to 70%, because delta is twice as transmissible, said Ricardo Franco, an assistant professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

“It is becoming clear that this is a very dangerous, way more dangerous virus than the original one,” Franco said.

It is not like I celebrate when these clowns die from something that is easily preventable, but I sure do not feel badly for them.

Of course. Like you, I don’t wish anyone death, but some folks I’m not going to mourn either.

In the exercise of free choice and personal responsibility, He made the calculated decision that the vaccine was worse than his risk of serious illness or death from the virus. He turned out to be wrong. Statistics are that way. Some will be wrong.

More like someone telling you that smoking is healthier than not smoking and people listening to you because of your position of leadership.

It’s a bit worse than that, since he didn’t merely just consume bad info, he propagated bad info. Hell he didn't even limit himself to just propaganda, he went all the way to “enemy of the people”. This dude might as well have been one of those terrorists actually harassing public health officials (and with a deranged tweet like that who’s to say he wasn’t?).

I have sympathy for the people getting fed propaganda, who don’t have the wherewithal to see through it. They are the victims. This guy purports to be a leader, yet re: the vaccine that probably would have saved his life he calls someone merely reporting positive data an “enemy of the people”. F that guy. His loss. Its a +1 for humanity.

I had that exact comparison in mind.

The cigarette companies used to fraudulently market the health benefits to smoking.

That isn’t all that different from a news organization or other entity that spreads lies about vaccinations (particularly considering some of these jokers are making money off selling “alternative medicines”).

Was just going to post about this. Sad that people continue to die on the Hill of Abject Foolishness. We can blame the purveyors of disinformation and misinformation, but clearly there is a partisan bent to those susceptible to buying into such nonsense.

Worse, some are arrogant in their ignorance until the end...when it's too late.
