Lots of NBA guys went straight to making a lot more than that. Some are disaster stories and many do just fine. Just depends on the kid I guess. They are old enough to join the military, they’re old enough to get paid. I wish someone would have tried to ruin me by handing me seven figures straight out of high school
It amazes me that less than 100 years ago an 18 yr old worked, fought, married and started a family. Now it's presumed they still can't wipe their own ass. How far the pendulum has swung.
It won't be this case but soon enough this will be and should be litigated as well. There is no reason why anyone shouldn't be allowed to make money off their NIL. If someone wants to pay a popular kid money to endorse their product/service so be it.
In 1982, 18 year olds in Florida and at UF were old enough to drink as well. Fraternity rush parties were actually sponsored by Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. It was then that kids started turning to drugs, as easier to come by. Shocking how quickly things can be taken away, if people are complacent. Less tolerant and more politically correct world we now live in.

The big issue is that schools that cheated before have just been allowed to due it openly and at an even grander scale. They know the NCAA has no enforcement powers right now and are taking full advantage of it... where schools like UF that tried to do everything by NCAA guidelines are paralyzed not knowing what is allowed or isn't....so they do nothing and will fall further behind in the arms race. Not that I know for sure but I would assume UF has even killed potential deals for players citing they are against the NCAA guidelines.
