I watch the Gators in their matches during their season and you think they are pretty good but these Olympic athletes have stepped it up another notch. The execution is just tremendous.
Yeah, I've been interested to see if there would be any discussion about Simon Biles's decision to sit out. On another note, state of Minnesota rep'd with our girl Sunni Lee!
As far as Biles's decision, I watch the replay of her vault and she could have really injured herself. I would give her the benefit of the doubt with all she has acccomplished.
Yeah, I'd feel pretty stupid and selfish about my immediate reaction if she had continued on and gotten hurt. She doesn't owe me or anyone else anything. She isn't obligated to risk spending the rest of her life in a wheelchair to amuse me.
If the pandemic had not delayed the Olympics, I believe Trinity Thomas would've been the first collegiate female gymnast to also compete in the Olympics in the same year. But after her late-season ankle injury, she didn't have enough time to both recover and then prepare for the Olympic trials. So she opted not to pursue the Olympics. Of course I'm biased, and my eyes are not expert, but I think she could have challenged Suni Lee for the all-around. What's kind of cool is that I believe Suni Lee will enroll at Auburn this fall, so maybe we will get to find out how our team (especially Trinity) compares. Nonetheless, hats off to Simone Biles for having the courage to step back, and to Suni Lee for having the ability to step up. USA!
She lost the ability to twist. Psychological I suppose. But it happens to gymnasts. I heard her interview in prime time the night before she pulled out and she just talked about her injuries and pain. And I said to my friend, “that is not good. She has no love for this and doesn’t want to be here. And is probably in pain.” Good luck to her. She did the right thing giving others a chance.
Yeah, gymnastics is mad dangerous...if you have the yips for whatever reason sit your ass out. Would love to see the ones giving her crap try to get on the rings for 30 seconds. Toughest sport there is mentally and physically.
Biles has announced she's going to participate in the balance beam competition. 2021 Olympic schedule Day 11: Simone Biles' last chance at Tokyo gold
