I've tried to get away from mocking or shaming completely (my previous post wasn't mocking, or at least not meant to be) I do have sympathy and love of people, yet tbh, it's pretty damn frustrating to see bad reasoning, political bs etc. as a justification.

Here's the thing too, you know also what doesn't work?

Reasoning with people. It doesn't. You can show people data. You can show them the evidence how vaccines are safe and with great upsides, and w/o conveying any hint of shaming. Yet it doesn't work. Be more like trying like eating an elephant one tiny morsel at a time.

The only thing that seems to work is letting them get sick or die. And dying might not help that person, but it might wake up family or friends of the same hesitant/anti feather. NTM, but others still have to treat such people while being put in danger in doing so.

Yeah reasoning doesn't work. If it did, there would be a whole lot more vaccinated people out there. Mocking doesn't work. The only thing that works is finding out the hard way. And I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for folks who find out the hard way. They unnecessarily put themselves and others at risk and paid for it.

Things are getting even worse in Florida. I wonder what DeSantis’s plan is? Does anyone know? 3DB18C91-C0B3-4F55-B70E-F5380FDDC915.jpeg

The plan is to do absolutely nothing at the moment. Maybe encourage vaccinations?

Even in alachua county positive cases doubled last week and double again this week. This kind of growth is troubling and school starts in two weeks…

His plan is to sell his cowardice to the sheeple as a struggle against tyranny. He's terrified that he may not come off as as big a faux freedom fighter as Kristi.

They mock sane people every day. Look at what DeSantis said about Fauci. Coronavirus. Calling their stance on anti-vaccinations it anti-masking “standing up for freedom,” comparing vaccine campaigns to brown shirts. You can’t reason with people like that.

We have seen people attacking the vaccines and citing studies that the vaccinated have higher viral loads when tested than the unvaccinated. Yet, in overwhelming numbers, the hospitalized are the unvaccinated. How do you reason with that? If there is more virus in vaccinated people but the unvaccinated are sicker, and the vaccine accounts for the difference, what is the beef?

Go look at the UK chart. No reason to think the US will be any different. We will top out most likely the 1st week of Augusta. Cases don’t matter. Only thing they matters is hospitalizations. There isn’t anything to be done to stop the rise. We aren’t shutting down and masks don’t work to stop it. The mostly unvaccinated people will have to deal with it. Some that didn’t get the vaccine will die. That’s on those people.

Umm... there is absolutely something that could be done to stop the rise. Have a higher vaccination rate. Get more people vaccinated.

Still not too late, though the next 2+ weeks is probably baked in (people infected that just don’t know it yet).

Desantis is busy fundraising in Utah. If you want Florida's daily number you will need to listen to Nikki Fried.

How do you vaccinate more people? Go force them to? Go to the black neighborhoods and the alt right areas(wherever that is) and force people to get the vaccine?

This is actually shocking failure. I figured we’d see a mini spike once it was clear vaccination rates were falling short, maybe something like half of previous peaks. Never in a million years would I have guessed we’d challenge previous peaks. At this rate we might blow through to new records of hospitalizations and deaths. SMH.

This is, and has been, DeSantis’ position. Vaccines work. So, he keeps the state open and pushes vaccines. And the base is unhappy that he wants them to be vaccinated. So here we are. I don’t like the guy, but he is a prime example why reasoning isn’t going to work. The vaccinated will have to be vigilant and move on, and some of the unvaccinated will be unlucky.
