It helps if you think of the Republican Party as more of a money laundering organized crime syndicate, rather than a legitimate political party. That’s what it appears to be at that stage, and that’s what it will continue to be so long as Trump lackeys continue to control the party.

It is clearly Trump's party now. If you are a republican and do not tow the Trump line they will disown and scorn you.

Beautifully stated, Officer Dunn. The person/people who sent those hitmen on January 6th needs to be locked up.

Ofc. Hodges’s testimony is just gut wrenching. Everyone should hear it.

All you congressional wannabes pay attention. This means inciting an insurrection is not part of a congressman's official duties.

That and he did it at a campaign event, so, there’s that too.

This was in regards to a lawsuit by Eric Swalwell, correct? Brooks claimed that inciting insurrectionists was part of his official duties (or words to that effect). So Swalwell can sue. What is the corrective action if Swalwell prevails?

Millions of dollars worth of emotional distress. Bwahahaha

In all seriousness, it’s kind of lame. But maybe some of the capitol police will now join in or launch their own suits? They would have more compelling claims.

Yes. But this isn’t over whether Swalwell can sue. It is over whether the United States (whether it be the Congress or DOJ) will defend Brooks. That’s the rub here. Both the House and DOJ have said that this was at a campaign event and not part of his official duties, so not for the government to defend. So Brooks needs to hire his own lawyer and pay his own attorney fees. It’s a tort, so Swalwell is seeking financial damages.

I think the claims of members and their staffs are extremely compelling. Just because one person is harmed, doesn’t mean another who is more harmed is prohibited from going after the same tortfeasor.

All this testimony sure sounds to me like tourism. /eyeroll

And those who defend this Jan 6 can stick it where the sun doesn't shine. No longer going to entertain their nonsense.

Back the blue, amirite? Sadly, this Vm sounds like a less censored version of some of the things I’ve seen by Trumpers on this board.

There were other trumpers calling him a crisis actor.

I think it was officer who was crushed in the door (Hodges?) that testified today how weird it was to be assaulted by rioters wearing a Back the Blue patch.
