Well I haven't posted 9375 times since the last purge. Counting my posts (200 at a time) I've posted about 2900 since then. I've never asked to have my post count manually updated either. Doesn't matter either way to me. I was just trying to defend myself against a typical cheap shot from 95.

Some context. The total population in Modoc County is 9,686. Glenn is 28,122, Lassen is 34,895, 28,610 and San Benito is 55,269. The "smallest" county of the five with higher daily case rates is Contra Costa, with over 1 million in population. Very hard to compare, as you are dealing with extremely large counties with minute populations, and some of the densest urban areas in the country.

Showing county population rate in the rural areas can also be misleading. About 45% of all residents of Lassen County, CA live in the town of Susanville (15,000+ residents). There have been about 22% of the county, or 7,700 residents who are vaccinated, and likely all live in or near Susanville. Those that live in the country with few neighbors aren't likely to get the vaccine. Throw in another 5,800+ known cases in Lassen County, and if natural immunity does offer more protection than the vaccine, you could be looking at a town, Susanville, close to herd immunity.

Speaking of being vaccinated. Two of my daughter's friends in their 20s were both vaccinated and both of them have Covid now.

I live in one of those fast growing counties. I'm not sure exactly why there's the discrepancy there, but what has not changed is the fact that the vast majority of those getting sick enough to be admitted is unvaccinated.

I see this is being discussed, but yes, the vast majority of the hospital staff who are unvaccinated are RNs, techs, etc. In fact, my resident is literally admitting a hypoxic unvaccinated RN right now for COVID. I don't know of a single doctor at my hospital who can get the vaccine and isn't vaccinated. I do know quite a few RNs, techs, etc. who are unvaccinated.

I think what the data in that article suggests (not proves, just suggests), is that the vaccine is not nearly as effective in preventing spread as it is in reducing severity of disease. If true, and it's certainly looking that way, it would mean that herd immunity via vaccinations is not viable. In other words, take the vaccine to protect yourself and yourself only, it's probably not gonna protect your unvaccinated neighbors, friends, family, etc.

    "others like you".

Includes all of those everywhere who are willfully spreading misinformation. Seemed like that would be obvious when saying "tens of thousands".

“We're getting ready to intubate the patient, which means putting them on a ventilator, and they said, 'If I get the vaccine now, could I not go on the ventilator?' So, they're begging for it," Chief Nursing Officer Tammy Daniel told CNN. "They're desperate because they are gasping for air, they can't breathe, they are scared, they feel like they're going to pass away. "

Possible. Bed availability most of the time is limited by staffing, not the availability of room and equipment. With that said, staffing can be fluid, since many people have the bandwidth to work more shifts if needed

Instead of focusing on people who spread information you don't like, maybe focus on the CDC leading to the killing thousands by not prioritizing people who have had covid already to be last to get the vaccine. Since we knew even back then the chances of reinfection were extremely remote, the CDC still made the dumb move to vaccinate everyone regardless of if they already had covid. That move most likely did kill thousands. We could’ve sent our excess vaccines to other parts of the world and saved thousands as well.

So, Biden will force federal employees to vaccinate?

I've seen it all now. "America First" fans saying we should prioritize vaccination foreigners before our own US citizens.

In April in Arizona, the state opened up vaccines to all over 16. The state followed CDC guidelines for 12 and over in late May. Maybe the first week or so, finding a vaccination appointment was difficult. But since May 1, getting a vaccine in Arizona is a simple as walking into any Walgreens and asking for it. Takes 20 minutes, tops. There is no shortage of vaccines here, and hasn't been since maybe February?

It would be one thing if the vaccine wasn't plentiful. Then maybe you would have a point. But since there's plenty of supply, it's not like anyone is vaccinating someone who has recovered from COVID in favor of anyone who has never been vaccinated or sick. Maybe you can find a link or two of this happening to individuals, but good luck finding anything like this happening in large numbers to actually cause the death of tens of thousands! You made the claim; now back it up!

It's worth repeating, and I'll probably repeat it again later, that death is not the only bad thing that can come from COVID. Those who've had asthma attacks can tell you, when you can't breathe, it's an extremely uncomfortable and scary thing. You could be in that state day after day, getting worse little by little, and I can't imagine many things scarier.

Even after you clear COVID, if you required more than a couple days of admission, then you're probably gonna have permanent lung damage. Lung scarring, just like scarring elsewhere, don't really go away. For every COVID patient who dies, there are many, many times more patients who are left with life-altering lung damage.

Total cases, yes. Total COVID patients in the hospital and dying? That's the big issue, and that lies at feet of the unvaccinated. The Yankees having a number of breakthrough cases but not one ending up in the hospital, and everyone back to resuming normal activities within two weeks is not an example of a major problem. Someone unvaccinated on a ventilator, however, is.
