How do you know previous infected immunity is superior than being vaccinated? Do you have the data on this? There have been no studies showing previous infected immunity is superior to being vaccinated. Additionally we don’t know if previous infected immunity protects against a the newest variants. If you are unvaccinated it is more beneficial to get vaccinated than to sit around waiting to be infected.

It doesn’t actually matter what anyone “thinks”. The numbers suggest vaccines are working well, 97% is not 100%, but it’s damn good and also pretty much in line with what the original clinical studies suggested.

After some length of time immunity is likely going to start wearing off, but that is true whether vaccinated or unvaccinated.

Exactly. This seems to be an area where there is not much clarity.

Normally I would believe in natural immunity myself, I also try to minimize what drugs I take in general. I have to feel really sick to take anything at all basically. But if a doctor told me I needed a certain drug I wouldn't argue with them. I have kept up on my vaccines over the years, so I’m not an “anti-vaxxer” either. But if somebody told me there was a flu outbreak in my area, I’m not going to say “I trust my immunity “. I’m going to try and avoid getting that bug! As COVID is 10x (or more) worse than the flu, seems pretty obviously something to avoid.

You can trust your immunity all you want, there are many viruses where that won’t end well. COVID isn't the worst virus, but with it being respiratory and multiples worse than the worst flu outbreak in recent history it’s still pretty damn bad! It’s not even just about death, who wants hospitalization?

My take on the “natural immunity” thing, is if I was RECENTLY infected and got over it without severe complications I probably wouldn’t be in a hurry to get vaccinated (or at least it would have removed the urgency). But, I’d probably still do it after a few months just to make sure i maximized my immunity for the next 6-12 months after that. Then after that it’s just about how much this damn thing is still circulating and how many hospitalizations it’s still causing, but the way it’s going it seems like it’s going to be permanent/endemic.

I think you and others who already have gotten the vaccine should be more concerned since there's obviously a breakdown with the vaccine. How many who have had covid already have caught covid 4 second time? I get what you're saying but I completely disagree with you guys at this point I have natural immunity and it would be more of a risk to take the vaccine for me. In all honesty and there's nothing that you or anybody's posted on this site or anything else that I read that would lead me to believe that I should change my mind I think you guys should just worry about yourselves

I consider likes and dislikes from both sides as a good thing. It means I haven't sunken so deep into one ideology that I cant see my way out of the mud.
I can assure you that if "likes" were my motivation, I could just post things that get those. I used to post with the idea of pissing off the left, until I started looking at what some on my "side" are saying. What I realized is that some that claim a monopoly on my "side" were actually pretty far from me too. Often with your posts it isn't so much what you say, but how you say it that frustrates me.

I have taken a boatload of heat from the left on my belief in vax choice. And my personal desire for full approval. Some have characteristically taken cheap shots and lobbed insults. Many other have had respectable conversation even while disagreeing. Those people will have those conversations with me because of the way I have presented my case.

You may consider my conversational style as "sucking up", but I just consider it listening to their side and trying to present mine in a decent manner.

True. But there is almost no chance at ill effects of you get it, studies show the vaccine will act as a booster for you, and plenty of evidence that breakthrough cases are minor because of the vaccine. In other words, more reasons to get vaccinated than not, especially considering it's free, only takes about 30 minutes split over 2 days, and is widely available.

There's been studies just not a lot out there. Like I've asked you before one simple question how many people that you know have already caught covid-19 and now they've got it for a second time

I didn't actually lock it. We sorta came to a mod agreement after it went off the rails. We let things cool and then it got reopened.

No unringing the church bell. Another day, another avoidable and unnecessary death.

An Alabama mother who lost her son to covid says not getting the vaccine is her biggest regret

After weeks of battling through oxygen treatments, her 28-year-old son died in the hospital two months after being diagnosed with covid-19.

Now in Carpenter’s Alabama home, the room belonging to Curt, her “beautiful baby boy” and firstborn, remains empty — a painful reminder of a life that could have been saved if the family had decided to get vaccinated, she said.

“It took watching my son die and me suffering the effects of covid for us to realize we need the vaccine,” the mother said. “We did not get vaccinated when we had the opportunity and regret that so much now.”

If you get sick, it is too late for the vaccine. Then you need a therapeutic. Also, with respect to the flu, if you got sick with it when you were young, you likely have immunities. The immunities to influenza last longer than coronaviruses. Which is why people can get colds regularly but don’t regularly get the flu.

In just 6 weeks the Chip Kelly Thread reached: 23,118 Posts | 2,010,832 Views
This thread is nearly a year and a half old and has reached: 23,732 Posts | 830,625 Views

That Kelly thread was INSANE. Twice as many views in just six week as this thread has in 18 months.
That just reminds us what butters the bread on a Gator sports site.

I have seen this, but also hear about people with lingering effects being eliminated by the vax. So for the non medically educated can someone explain how this works?
How does it both not help once infected, but still help reduce long term effects when administered well after the infection.

I know a guy that had lingering effects from an infection pre vax, that he says they died off almost immediately after the second dose.

I've already answered this multiple times. I have natural immunity already since I've had covid. There is no guarantee that I wouldn't get from taking the vaccine and it's already be proven that you still can get sick even if you had the vaccine. Nobody has been able to show that the vaccine is better than natural immunity
