agreed i think Del Rio is becoming “forgotten” if that makes sense since we have a “shiny new toy” in Evers. on a side note, i do believe that Mullen is moving away from a true DT style qb and gravitating towards a passing QB who has mobility because i wouldn’t put CDRW, Kitna, and Evers in the same class/style of QB’s as Emory and AR15
Not really. We had an awesome O last year with a very weak OL and a very immobile QB. If we hit on another QB with the decision making ability and accuracy of KT and combine it with a D that is actually competent we’ll be winning another nat championship.
she’s trash talking UT bc of them trying to get into the SEC now even tho we already have a team from Texas in the SEC & she’s also an Aggie alum
Yeah. I don't get the 1 string and one period reference? The tank second half of basketball games last year? Only have 1 qb on scholarship?
That's a really interesting observation. I noticed that with Kitna, thinking he might be more in the Trask style. Maybe Mullen really meant it when he told Franks all he wanted was a "willing" runner to open up more of the field (vice a true hard core dual threat). Or, maybe a taste of what can be done with a guy like Trask in this new environment where you have to put up a lot of points to outduel the competitive programs has made him adapt his thinking.
I reallllllly don't want to add any more teams into the SEC. It's hard enough to win the conference now with all the teams that have been added over the years; it would become ridiculous if two more "competitive" teams were added to make us the biggest conference in the country (already the toughest). I already think Missouri and aTm are Southwestern/midwestern teams that don't belong in the southeastern conference.
That's a mighty big "If" that leaves no margin for error. But here's to hoping we find another guy that can process anywhere in the neighborhood of KT.
I dont know that I completely buy into that line of thinking, because the staff was all about J Brown until Johnson left for the NFL. Leads me to believe that the J Brown recruitment, was more about a Johnson mindset then a Mullen mindset at the QB position. The change in direction at the QB position was immediate, in as far as when Mcgee took over. Unless someone as some back ground in as far as insider info, that would point to a staff change in mindset at the QB position even before Johnson left for the NFL?
Thats a good point. Forgot about Brown and Coach Johnson prior to Coach leaving for Philly. I guess we’ll see with what QB the staff might bring in with the 2023 class or would they skip getting a QB?
It also may be where Mullen has been philosophically all along, but limitations as what you can get at MSU (and early at UF) shaded his trajectory more toward a true dual threat model. Emory was an emergency need if neither Trask or Franks could be functional immediately, and you just can't let a local guy with AR's measurables and credentials slip out of town. Does seem it's headed toward a passing spread with a mobile QB, though there will likely always be a hammer like AR on the roster.
I was in my senior year at UF when we won our 2008 championship. I was driving north on 34th street across from camelot apts. Tebow was on a scooter (without a helmet) in the right lane in front of me and decided he wanted to turn on the road that heads by the law school by Publix. Without a look he merged into the turn lane that was empty except for a speeding car that was coming up along side me. He was missed by inches. I'm not kidding.....inches. That was a fateful day for my Gators and I pray nothing happens like that to any of them......GET OFF THE SCOOTERS! lol
tell em us here at Awesome recruiting will take turns chauffeuring him around campus #ProtectNick lmao by the way, what’s his nickname? We gotta get that going!!
He may pan out at ‘da U’ or wherever he winds up, but I was VERY concerned when we were making him our focus. UF should ALWAYS be recruiting kids that are effective passers first at QB.
