Covid vaccine: How many people in the UK have been vaccinated so far?

So far, more than 46 million people have had a first vaccine dose - nearly 90% of the adult population - and more than 36 million - about 70% of adults - have had both doses.

If by far most people are vaccinated, then most covid cases will be among the vaccinated

    This is good chart.

I'm not really sure what this chart says, but it does say Delta has higher reinfection rate, and your risk of reinfection is elevated after 180 days.

    Interesting from AL governor.

Alabama governor on rising COVID-19 cases: 'Time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks'

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R) declared that it's “time to start blaming the unvaccinated” for the surge in coronavirus infections in her state.

“But it's time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the regular folks. It’s the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down,” she continued.

“These folks are choosing a horrible lifestyle and self-inflicted pain,” Ivey told reporters. “You know we’ve got to get folks to take the shot. The vaccine is the greatest weapon we have to fight COVID, there’s not question about that, the data proves it.”

GOP talk radio was livid today about her remarks and demanding that she be removed from office.

Sure, from a very very very small chance of getting covid to a very very small chance of reinfection. Very safe still.

First, if the costs of getting vaccinated are less expensive than the cost of not getting vaccinated, then those things you added aren't even necessary elements to the fiscal evaluation. If anything the idea of showing that the vaccinations are more cost-effective would *help* these other things that you are expressing concern about, no?

Here's the thing, we were constantly told(even the CDC as of this week) that vaccination only makes up 3% of hospitalizations. Something doesn't jive. Can't see the chart

Give everyone who has been fully vaccinated a $1,000 tax credit. It is much cheaper than paying any hospital bills.

The official recommendation from the CDC is to get the vaccine regardless as to whether you had prior infection. It provides the best immunity. No caveats.

The CDC is likely just keeping their message as simple as possible rather than muddy the waters. Now if we want to employ some additional logic. If a person JUST had COVID like a month or two ago, there probably is some strong immunity, no rush to get the vaccine. Might even make more rational sense to wait a couple months then get vaccinated, to cover a longer time period of having stronger immunity. But to a person that had it 6 months ago or a year ago, maybe not so much, and I think we may be saying that about vaccinated people in the coming months too. Though obviously that is speculative.

That is in the US. our vaccinated population is much lower, and most of our vaccinations are Pfizer and Moderna which work better.

Seems it took some polling for republican politicos to get them to finally come around to pushing vaccinations. I mean, they've been available for seven months and yet it was only yesterday did pub docs in congress make a statement in support of vaxxing. So yeah, this is great. But they need to do more to staunch the spread and deaths. And well, it's way late so they don't deserve a whole lot of praise.

It could be that the Astra-Zeneca vaccine is not quite as effective. While I can't confirm the 3% number, I can confirm that the vast, vast majority of the COVID patients I've seen in the hospital has been unvaccinated, and that's the case with every other doctor I've spoken to as well in other hospitals. The only vaccinated COVID case I've seen was a 90 year old end stage dementia patient on hospice. She didn't have any symptoms though as she came in with something else. Interestingly she also had COVID back in December.

Saw a bunch of claims that Hannity walked back his (very good) pro-vaccine statement.

Haven’t seen the video, but if true, WTF is wrong with these people? I assume his audience started sending him hate mail or something so he reacts by telling them what they want to here, so like a Kevin McCarthy speaking on 1/6... back to the Kabuki theater it is....
