Same thinking that causes one to be loyal to a man that disposes anybody that ever disagrees with him or tells him something he doesn't want to hear

You forgot the more deadly part, and the year round part, and the more likely to mutate part, andvthe much higher vaccine efficiency part

I understand...but two big cluster breakouts in the same clubhouse of vaxed guys seems pretty odd to me. Doesnt it to you?

Seems like delta variant is defeating the vaccine when given the chance (no social distancing, no masks, lots of close contact with lots of people), at least enough to cause infection. Thankfully not enough to cause serious illness, yet

I believe the MLB “breakthroughs” have all been JNJ though? That one was always known to be inferior. When the vaccines were supply constrained it made sense to use anything (approved) we could get our hands on, but now I wonder why we’d be using JNJ at all (vs. sending it all to the developing world ).

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been much stronger, albeit with some chinks in the armor starting to appear (as the link a couple posts up suggest).

I or my wife know 4 people that got pfizer who have tested positive in the last 2 weeks. We have returned to wearing masks in public indoor places, kn95 masks on planes, and limiting our dining to outdoor seating only.

This article has now been retracted due to issues with methodology and the inability of the author's to address those concerns.

A couple of friends of mine, sisters who live together, both got covid recently. One of the sisters was vaccinated and the other had chosen not to get vaccinated. The vaccinated one had a very light case, said she hardly noticed it. The unvaccinated one had a hard case, bedridden for days, feeling awful. Just more (anecdotal) evidence for the efficacy of the vaccines in preventing serious cases.

Wife and I concluded tonight that it is likely that we are at the point that Delta has broken through, just not systematically collected in official data yet. We are going back to masks indoors, and limiting going out again. I don’t think I can handle staying out of the office again

Seeing a bunch more masks here at the Sam's, grocery, and other stores. We aren't even in the thick of it, but folks are aware that there's another spike and are acting accordingly.

yes, more than flu, downright stupid, criminal even, to open schools without masks and without kids vaccinated, especially with delta running amuk and much worse on kids than the original strand

Children, COVID-19, and the vaccines | AAMC

Most infected children get mild symptoms, but serious illnesses exceed those from other childhood viruses
Of the almost 600,000 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the United States in just over 17 months, about 325 have been people under the age of 18, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC also reports that hospitalization rates are lower for children and adolescents than for adults, the CDC reports.

But in the context of diseases associated with children, COVID-19 causes more deaths and hospitalizations than several viral diseases that have been deemed severe enough to prompt the development of vaccines (such as chickenpox), and it appears to be surpassing the flu. Children’s hospitalization rates for COVID-19 “are in the range … of what we see for influenza in any given season,” Evan Anderson, MD, an associate professor of pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, reported in a recent webinar hosted by the American College of Medical Toxicology.

The flu typically kills about 100 children a year, with totals ranging from 39 to 199 in recent years, according to the CDC. At current rates, child deaths related to COVID-19 stand at more than 200 a year.

Evidence is also emerging about the long-term effects of COVID-19 on young people, including fatigue, headaches, and loss of the sense of taste or smell for months, as well as long-term brain loss. A study in the United Kingdom found that “it is becoming increasingly apparent that a large number of children with symptomatic and asymptomatic COVID-19 are experiencing long-term effects, many months after the initial infection.”

I've been in Utah for about 5 days now, I'll see à few people with them, no more than Florida. The only place it was required was on the trolley at Zion national park.

Right now 161 million or 49% of the country is vaccinated.
According to world o meter 35 million have been infected. For purposed of discussion let's say 5% of the vaccinated have been tested positive, that's 8,3 million.
So 196 million have either been vaccinated or tested positive and we will subtrate 9 million from that for those that have died or in the positive vaccinated group, so that means 187 million are either vaccinated or have natural antibodies from previously contracted the disease. That is 56% of the country.
12% (roughly) is under 12 so that pushes the number to 68%.
How far away from "herd immunity" are we?
