    Whom would you rank as Florida's best "BIG" over the last 5 years?

    As far as value to the team, I would go with Hayes.

    Thanks tampa, I think I would as well. Poor guy was asked to do too much and I think he gave everything he had.

    The answer will become Castleton, but he only has a season under his belt.
    So, I'd agree with Hayes based upon what he did for four years.

    He worked his but off, but I don't have a "poor guy" feeling regarding his role. Hayes was who he was . . . and if you put him at the 4, he would have been handcuffed by his lack of shooting ability. And so, for his skillset - he played exactly where he needed to . . . and made himself a pretty formidable player, especially defensively.
    I think he relished his role and minutes.

    Thank you for the feedback. Agree he was not exactly Seth Curry from long range.........lol

    Heck of an effort guy, had a nice technique for blocking shots.

    :)

    Yup.
    And if you are isolating the question of "best big" strictly from a skill standpoint, and independent of tenure. . .

    1) Castleton
    2) Blackshear
    3) Hayes

    For the career, I would rank Kevarius Hayes as first.
    Hayes was on UF's three NCAA Tourney teams (from 2017-19) including the Elite8 run as a sophmore in 2017.

    In the blocked shots category, Hayes ranks 2nd (214 blks) all time in UF history behind only Dwayne Schintzius. Hayes' best season was in his senior year when he was beginning to improve his offensive game.
    ===============================

    As for best performance by a center in (a season) the last five years, it would be the following:
    1. Kerry Blackshear: 396 pts (12.8 ppg, 27.2 mpg), 231 reb, 50 A, 18 stl, 19 blk
    FT%: 79.2% (145/183), 3P%: 30.5% (25/82), FG%: 43.6% (113/259)
    <== In 31 games

    2. Kevarrius Hayes: 300 pts (8.3 ppg, 25 mpg), 225 reb, 25A, 36 stl, 67 blk
    Career: 778 pts (5.6 ppg, 19.5 mpg), 642 reb, 53 A, 104 stl, 214 blks
    FT%: 66.7% (74/111), 3P%: 0% (0/0), FG%: 67.3% (113/168)
    <== In 36 games

    3. Collin Castleton: 297 pts (12.4 ppg, 25.7 mpg), 153 reb (6.4 rpg), 26A, 13 stl, 54 blk
    FT%: 78.1% (75/96), 3P%: 0% (0/1), FG%: 59.7% (111/186)
    <== In 24 games.

    C'mon. the best big has to be KJ.

    The problem? he shouldn't be a big. But that is/was the cards we have been dealt.

    Blackshear probably the most disappointing player that I remember besides Christian Djeir . This list tells you how inept we have been at that position.

    On the other hand, Blackshear was our best player for 2/3rds of the season, when he was eclipsed by KJ.

    Most disappointing? Wow.
    I thought the team would have been better, but I could never put Kerry in the category of “most disappointing”. And labeling him as such points to some over-inflated expectations. Kerry had very, very similar numbers at UF that he did during his career best season with the Hokies.

    Winner!

    I’d add Eloy Vargas to the list.

    I remember also being very high on Ray Shipman.

    More recently, Stokes was a huge letdown for me. And I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to thinking Scottie would be something more/different than he proved to be.

    He was dominating in the ACC … not so much at UF . Under the rim guy who was not the scoring presence vs the better teams. Pre season POY ??

    I wouldn't consider him a true big, but he's definitely a forward/wing, which is where he belongs with his skillset. What do you mean by that is the card we have been dealt? If you like KJ on our team... which I'm guessing 99% of our fanbase does, than how could we lament his positioning on our roster? He can't realistically play PG or SG due to the lack of a sophisticated use of his left hand. He's too short to play C. It's not as if he really can/should play one of the guard positions but roster limitations or coaches force him into playing as a forward. He is a forward.
