Ladykillers was bad, but I barely count that as one of their movies. If you think No Country was "pure garbage" I really have to question your taste.
Thinking about sci-fi rom coms (I didn’t realize this was such an extensive genre), I recommend Love and Monsters from last year. It’s entertaining and hits the right notes.
I like the ending. And its how the book ends which I had already read when I saw it, so I wasnt one of the people in the theater that was like "huh, that's it?" Between that and True Grit, they were almost perfect adaptations of the source material.
I was around 14 and went with my older sister and some of her friends. It was non-stop hilarious from beginning to the end.
I don’t push back if disagreement on a movie. just different tastes. there are exceptions for obviously bad movies.
I watched this King Wu masterpiece last night on Criterion. The restoration was exquisite. The cinematography pops off the screen.
Hell yeah bro! I love me some cheesy ass kung fu theatre! I scored a 47 movie pack (13 DVDs) like 2 weeks ago, for a $1.00. I could get lost in that mess. In fact, if you happen to detect a conspicuous absence in my posting...just means I prolly displaced too hot with hours of really sketchy kung fu flickage for a spell.
You might like a new movie, The paper tigers. It’s not a traditional Kung fu movie -more like a comedic the karate kid of king fu- but I thought it was enjoyable.
I liked that it was a chase movie where none of the main characters every actually caught one another. Kind of a different result on an old take. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I didn’t really like it either but as I’m seeing everyone’s lists I realize I like polished movies more than gritty movies. Quite a few on here are the opposite. I also hate downer endings. No Country was gritty and had a downer ending thus no love from me.
Less popular movies I like: - Adjustment Bureau - Amelie (French subtitles) - Baby Driver - Cabin in the Woods -Deep Blue Sea - Defending your life - Dredd -Free Solo -Good Boys -Green Room -Happy Death Day -I Tonya -The Impossible -Molly’s Game -Pandorum -Plus One Most repeat watches for me: -Edge of Tomorrow -Infinity War -Endgame -Rogue One -My cousin Vinnie -Wind River
Ill keep an eye out for it. I got one for you, if you appreciate thst kind if humor: Shaolin Soccer. Had me n my boys rolling....
This may disappoint. It's not really in the same category as a cheesy Kung Fu flick. There is a purposeful use of comedic bits in this, but it's not one of the silly Saturday morning cable karate marathon flicks.
