I said "thanks in advance"! I also left 3 gems to get this exchange started! I do appreciate these suggestions as I have not heard of most of these films! I intend to provide a proper movie review after viewing any of these fine recommendations!
Its probably the best of those movies. Sicario is probably more "fun" to rewatch though IMO. Maybe that's just for Emily Blunt though.
Wind River was awesome. As was the first 3/4 of Sicario. And then the film turns into a frustrating bait and switch.
Not really under the radar, but Edge of Tomorrow is quality sci-fi. Another Emily Blunt movie, maybe there's a pattern here.
This trailer doesn't do this movie justice. It's a master class in cinematography and Terrence Malick always makes visual excellence. Emmanuel Lubezki should've won the Oscar for cinematography.
Off-radar films that I think are must-sees include: *The Zero Effect (slice of life movie disguised as a mystery/procedural/buddy film) *The Spanish Prisoner (Genre: David Mamet) *State & Main (SOL) *Palm Springs (Different twist on Groundhog’s Day) *Ghost World (SOL/RomCom) *Dream for an Insomniac (SOL/RomCom) *The Last Days of Disco (SOL) *A Million Ways to Die in the West (farcical comedy) *Hey Ladies (comedy) *Yesterday (Singer/songwriter wakes up in a world where only he remembers the Beatles) *The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (SOL, self-actualization) *Fandango (SOL comedy; very early roles for Kevin Costner and Judd Nelson) *The Nice Guys is just a great flick on so many levels *Bad Times at the El Royale (not sure how to describe this one) *The Upside of Anger (SOL) *We’re the Millers (great off-beat comedy and you get to see Jennifer Aniston do a strip-tease) *7 Days in Hell (masterpiece sports mockumentary) *This is Where I Leave You (great SOL flick) *Game Night (or really any comedy with Jason Bateman or Rachel McAdams in it; they’re at the top of their game in this one, and the supporting cast is perfect) *Jiminy Glick in Lalawood (movie version of the show - crazy funny stuff, worth it just for the outtakes reel at the end) *Any of the Coen Brothers’ early work, from Blood Simple through O Brother Where Art Thou (most everything after that was uneven to very problematic...Buster Scruggs was downright awful...but do watch A Serious Man, a classic Coen Bros dark comedy that came out at the end of the ‘00s)
