This one has been a catch 22 all along. Some folks depend solely on their income properties and have been crushed by this...Meanwhile a new crisis could come from lifting the moratorium.

I do find it odd that the CDC is the one that put the rule in place, and the judge and complainants are likely correct.
We have one investment property. We do not use it for our day to day living and no rent payments missed thankfully, but the potential impact is always in the back of your mind.

Here's more on child COVID long haulers. If references the Italian study with 129 kids, but also gives some numbers from much larger studies, like Great Britain. Numbers weren't as high, but it was above 10% of the 500,000 kids who recovered and were still showing major symptoms 5 weeks after recovery. There are more numbers in the article.

While risk will never be 0%, that should be the goal. And getting the risk of COVID close to 0% with her immunity is possible. Anything less, then there will be people who didn't need to get sick getting sick, and a portion of them suffering long haul symptoms or worse, dying.

And it's hard not to feel someone is being selfish if their reason for not getting a vaccine is they are personally safe, so they don't feel the need to become part of the vaccine herd. As everyone who can be vaccinated but refuses to do so is someone who refuses to become part of the herd immunity effort. Sure, they are likely to be OK even without the vaccine, but it puts everyone else at a higher risk. And again, shouldn't our goal to do everything to reduce the risk as much as possible?

So most kids who get it will never know, so how do you establish a baseline....

I sourced all of my assumptions. The 50% seems exaggerated, but 10-15% five weeks or more seems realistic:

"Evidence from the first study of long covid in children suggests that more than half of children aged between 6 and 16 years old who contract the virus have at least one symptom lasting more than 120 days, with 42.6 per cent impaired by these symptoms during daily activities. These interim results are based on periodic assessments of 129 children in Italy who were diagnosed with covid-19 between March and November 2020 at the Gemelli University Hospital in Rome (medRxiv, doi.org/fv9t).

The UK Office for National Statistics's latest report estimates that 12.9 per cent of UK children aged 2 to 11, and 14.5 per cent of children aged 12 to 16, still have symptoms five weeks after their first infection. Almost 500,000 UK children have tested positive for covid-19 since March 2020."

There is a lot of evidence of chronic symptoms among children. Luckily it is fairly rare, but it isn't nothing, and why put your children at risk for no reason?

When as a nation did we become so selfish and self centered? Everything is how does it affect me? Being more concerned about our theoretical personal freedom that protecting someone else from harm.

Why give a vaccine that hasn't been tested on children and gone thru the approval process to kids? Literally millions of kids in the US have had covid. IF those estimates were correct we'd have in the millions kids with those issues. News flash, we don't.

Is there the same obesity correlation in children as in adults?

Five hospitals across the US have opened Children Long Haul COVID wards. Nowhere does it say this is a psychiatric issue as these kids are just too upset that they aren't back in school, that it manifests itself as COVID long haul symptoms. If anyone has a peer reviewed paper from a qualified professional that says it could be mental, I'll be happy to read it.

While the study of 12-15 year olds was only 2,250 kids, remember, this study is on top of the 70,000 original Pfizer study. If none of the kids showed any different side effect or outcome as the 70,000, then it's a safe conclusion that the effect of the vaccine on kids 12-15 will mirror the results of the adults. Again, if just 1 child had exhibited a different side effect, that would only be .04% of kids 12-15. With none of the kids showing any different effect, then if there is a subset of kids that will have a different effect, it will be infinitesimally small.

Now we have to weigh the risks with rewards. And that brings us back to herd immunity. Reach it, and we can all but eradicate COVID. And the risk to everyone drops down to almost zero. And that should be the goal.

I can't speak to any one person but resistance to the covid vaccine in many cases appears to be a political statement. Or perhaps they just keep consuming really bad information. Why is it many republicans fear the covid vaccine causing them to grow new body parts vs Democrats who mostly don't? Is it a coincidence that many republicans also complained about or refused to wear masks?

There is no emergency for 12-15 year olds, so i will wait to get them vaccinated. Not enough data out there. You take care of your family i'll handle mine.

Sure, you can do math and show the chances of one particular interaction between kids and elderly has a very small risk of negative outcome. But if you can easily reduce that small risk by another 90-95%, why wouldn't you?

It is kind of like saying the risk of dying in a car on a particular trip is very small even if you don't wear a seat belt. So why wear a seat belt?

    Care to elaborate?
Is the data I posted wrong?
You actually think the healthy children should not hug their vaccinated grandparents?
Do you care to elaborate on what the % chance is of a vaccinated grandparent getting Covid from a child with no symptoms?

And before you say all the same stuff...yes...
I know that healthy people can carry it, though the number is low.
I know that children can carry it, though children with covid at any given moment is less than 1% of the population nationwide.
I know the Vaccine is only 95% effective.

Do you know the likelihood of an asymptomatic child having enough viral load to pass it through a mask to a vaccinated grandparent?

You can still think it isnt worth the risk, though I imagine your kids grandparents (like most) may disagree, but the extremely low possibility is far from nonsense. It is fact.

Right...thats all good, but the two people being the most vocal right now and the one that you quoted, (Myself and 95) hate Trump and bashed his policy on Covid. We have been vocal about Trump. Neither of us have ever said we were anything close to anti-vax and have both said multiple times that our kids have all theirs.

So again, what has HE said that makes you think he wont get it when it goes to full approval?
