Here are world / U.S. cases and fatalities in three-day intervals as of late June. I extracted several data sets to make it more attainable. Note the bolded numbers. At the end of June, there were 11,239 world fatalities during a three-day period. The U.S. would surpass that number on January 16. Likewise, the U.S. caught up with the world cases back in December. The good news is, as several of y'all have noted, the numbers are beginning to decline. World cases are down a half million from the peak on Jan 13. Cases and fatalities in the U.S. are declining.

As the vaccine ramps up, so are some of the more intense strains of the virus. We're in a race now to get people vaccinated.

Look at the post 3 or 4 above where I show you the comparison of 7 days before jan.20 to the 7 days post,a 65,000 a day drop, numbers may have been dropping before the 20tj,they fell off a cliff after the 20th.

No. In the week of Jan 20-26 the daily average was 165k. In the week of Jan 13-19 the daily average was 198k. And in the week of Jan 5-12 the daily average was 245k.

So cases dropped by 47k per day in the week before Jan 20 and cases dropped by 33k in the week of Jan 20. Why has the rate of decline slowed since Jan 20?

Flat out wrong. The numbers dropped more in the week before Jan 20 than they did the week after.

Wrong,if the numbers per day dropped more in the week before the 20th they would have to drop from more than 290,000 a day from what they were on the 12th.

Go to covid 19,subtract the total cases on the 13th from the 19th divide by 7 and tell me what you get

There were a total of 1,385,512 cases that week. The per day average was 197,930.3.

I apologize if this link has been previously posted.

As time goes by eventually the story of COVID-19 and it's spread comes to light. My question is why in the world do we have a CDC if they are not competent in their job roles? Keep in mind this is top level management as well as qualified personnel. If this is what we have to look forward to President Biden will fare no better than President Trump in any endeavor with regards to COVID-19.

Special Report: How U.S. CDC missed chances to spot COVID's silent spread

As you may recall, many people were travelling, and spreading the virus, during Christmas and New Year's. Then everyone went home and the disease didn't have the same opportunity to spread. Because of the lag time between exposure and onset of disease, most of those new cases were reported a week later (the first week or so of January). Once those new cases due to vacation travel moved through the system, there was a big drop off because there was not as much travel happening after Christmas and New Year's.

The big drop in new cases is explained by the big drop in behaviors that spread the virus.

I'm hopeful that the US will lower their criteria for what is a "covid case" and what isn't. I've been adamant for months that just having a positive PCR test is enough to label someone with covid. Hopefully that happens soon and hopefully schools can open back up. I'm quite confident that the choice to keep schools closed will be the worst public policy disaster since Vietnam.

A Cobb County, GA teacher who died from COVID had one, simple request of the School Board. Wear a mask. Three members didn't even put one on for a moment of silence in the teacher's honor! This was the third Cobb County teacher to die from COVID in the last few weeks.

The amazing thing is Florida schools being open versus Cali and NY. Think Newsom is giving Cuomo a run for his money on who is handling Covid the worst.

It’s encouraging to have a admin treat covid with a sense of (any) urgency and attempt to lead. 10s of thousands of lives would have been saved if we had this earlier instead of trump.

Hospitalizations are down you. An indicator that doesn’t depend on the WHO guidelines or Cycles. So cases are fewer because there are fewer cases. Which is good.

An interesting article, although poorly written:

    https://www.americasfrontlinedoctors.com/wp-content/uploads/Vaccine-PP.pdf

It's obvious that the group has a bit of a political agenda, as they almost seem more concerned with civil rights and the chance of private medical information to get out as they are about public health. They are also offended that the medical establishment does not support the use of hydroxychloroquine against Covid-19. Some of the claims are somewhat scary, if true. Like Antibody Dependent Enhancement:

    This is not encouraging:

    or this:

Here is an article that casts aspersions on this group:

Just when you think this pandemic can't get any stranger, it does...

Second California patient dies soon after COVID-19 vaccination, investigations underway

The widow of a California health care worker who died after receiving the second dose of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine says her late husband "believed in vaccines."

X-ray technician Tim Zook’s health went into a sharp decline after receiving the second shot and he was eventually transferred to the University of California, Irvine Medical Center where he died Jan. 9.

"But when someone gets symptoms 2.5 hours after a vaccine, that’s a reaction," she said. "What else could have happened? We would like the public to know what happened to Tim, so he didn’t die in vain. Severe reactions are rare. In reality, COVID is a much more deadly force than reactions from the potential vaccine itself."
