It's a very big deal due to the case rate being what some of the crazy ass mayors and governors used to kill off their small businesses this past year. But now, if the daily death rate suddenly falls off a cliff, you know you've been had.

in other equally viable news, the leaders in Britain and Brazil released new covid variants that are much more infectious to try and delay any progress against the virus by the new Biden administration:rolleyes:

like i said earlier, if the new, lower standard could go back in time i am sure there would be a drastic reduction in numbers from the spring, so much so that all the lockdowns and business killing measures would have never taken effect, and maybe cuomo does not kill all the nursing home residents.

and you know this for a fact, the droppage of 50,000 plus new cases a day since jan,20th is a sudden bit of devine luck, you are really delusional, you do not want to admit positive test paramaters were loosened up, tests are down from 190,000 plus last wed-fri to 150,000 from sun-today, again, more luck or doctored numbers?

It has also been explained to you that there has been no 50k decline. You are aware that the reason that we use 7 day moving averages is that there is substantial daily variation by day of the week, right?

But the reason for the decline, which started days before the inauguration has also been explained to you.

No, those people that died would still be dead. No change in PCR testing procedures or standards can bring people back to life. Of all the ignorant things you’ve posted, this one takes the cake. If anything, it would have killed more. A lower threshold standard could have potentially put presymptomatic people back into nursing homes that tested negative when really the virus hadn’t had time to replicate. If nursing home employees didn’t take extra precautions because they didn’t think they were dealing with Covid positive patients it would have spread and killed more. Having a higher threshold/standard leads to extra and possibly unnecessary precautions.

Another thing about retroactively reducing positives, that would really blow your right wing talking point up “but it has a 99% recovery rate durrrrrpy durp!”. I’m not expecting you to understand the math, but since dead people will stay dead, what do you think would happen to the rate of death if the number of dead stayed constant but we drastically reduced the number of positive cases? You are all over the map on your conspiracies and truly have no clue what the hell you’re talking about.

the average per day new case rate from jan.1-20 was219,000 a day, the average new case rate from jan.20-26 is now 165,000 a day , you are right, it was not 50,000 it is 54,000.cases today are down 80,000 compared to the same day 2 weeks ago.cases yesterday were down 67,000 from same day 2 weeks ago, the before were pre-biden, the after post biden. draw your own conclussion on the massive drop, i know what i think.

EU threatening to limit exports as their vaccine supply falls short of contracted quantities

Furious at AstraZeneca, the EU plans to bring in vaccine export controls | Fortune

    EU fury
AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine is still awaiting approval by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), whose opinion should appear later this week, but the EU has already ordered up to 400 million doses of the stuff.

Around 80 million of those doses were supposed to be delivered in the first quarter of this year, but on Friday AstraZeneca informed EU leaders that it would only deliver 31 million doses during this period. EU officials reportedly said the company was blaming production problems at a Belgian plant.

Coming as it did on the heels of a Pfizer/BioNTech supply reduction—due to the need to re-tool a Belgian factory so as to increase its output—AstraZeneca's announcement put a big hole in the EU's short-term vaccination plans. Figures such as the embattled Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte started talking about lawsuits.

That heads of state are threatening a drugmaker with legal action for a drug that hasn't yet been approved speaks volumes to the frayed relations.

What do the numbers look like if you take the same number of days on both sides of 1/20?

so i showed you the huge disparancy in numbers a week before biden took office compared to a week after when the WHO lowered standards, again explain the almot 30% drop in 2 weeks.

If we keep dropping 65,000 cases a day per week,in 3 weeks we will be home free.

You are being dishonest because you are totally ignoring when the numbers actually start dropping. Cases started dropping after Jan 11. But you want to include the higher numbers of Jan 1-Jan 11 in your baseline so you can show a higher apparent drop in cases. That's just a dishonest use of statistics.

Looking at today and yesterday compared to the same days a week ago and 2 weeks ago we get these averages:
    Jan 25-26: 150k per day
    Jan 18-19: 163k per day
    Jan 11-12: 225k per day

So there was a much bigger drop in the week before the WHO change on Jan 20 than there was in the week after it. If the WHO change had anything to do with the declining case numbers, why would that be?
