You're making these assumptions but unwilling to provide any reason for them. What's your issue with Whitt?
just because he doesn’t think Whitt will develop into a #1 doesn’t mean he has an “issue” with em lol
Apkgator... just do a "screen shot" of the page or the post. Use, "Control-->Prt Scr" at top, right hand side of your keyboard and then import your image into a variety of software like Adobe Photoshop. Actually... I have taken a moment to do this for you. Enjoy! (Just right-click on the image and save it on your desktop!) PS: I have nothing against crl... so nobody take this the wrong way...
I may not be sure who, but I am sure a couple guys will step up big next year. This time last year we were wondering how we'd replace four of our top receivers and a RB with great hands out of the backfield. But it worked out. It will likely be one of the guys we're already talking about, but you never really know for sure until it happens. No one expected Toney to become the complete WR he was this past season. So even with the fewer balls to go around with the more balanced pass to run ratio and a less efficient QB, I'll still expect us to produce the receivers we need until we don't.
I have issues when people won't just say why someone won't pan out. It isn't about being the #1 WR. Cope likely will be the top WR next year. But to assume a guy won't pan out without reason is just well... idiotic.
I agree and if he does run a sub 4.5 pretty sure he will be locked in as a 2nd round pick. But I also wouldn't be surprised if he runs in the 4.5 range which is still excellent size speed combo. Not many guys sub 4.5 in that 6ft4-6ft5 215-220 range and he will be highly coveted.
agree I mean there was only so many balls to go around. I would love to see a Toney type jump for him since he should be THE guy next year. Rarely do you see a guy that is the 4th WR and really the 5th option cause Pitts has to be factored in(for target purposes) produce at a high level just because the opportunities aren't there. But he should be THE get it to guy this year. Him Shorter and Hendo I think am hoping will be our top 3 in terms of targets and production.
but he never said he wouldn’t pan out, just that he wouldn’t get the amount of passes thrown to him as other’s predict he might get. If he doesn’t develop into the #1 or #2 WR, then around 20-30 catches will be about what he gets. Look at our WR catches from 2019 and that featured an attack that probably threw it more than we will next year and the 3rd and 4th WR were Grimes and Hammond with 33 and 27 catches. I’m not saying he’s right or wrong, I’m just trying to provide context
I don't think he's that good. I think he's good enough to play but not a real difference maker IMO. JMO. Hopefully I'm wrong and he becomes an AA.
Whitt is a bit of a freak athlete, he played about every position in HS - QB, S, Punter, etc.,. I'm sure everyone saw the video of him throwing down the 360-degree tomahawk dunk in front of the entire team last Spring, or that killer catch over the middle against double coverage in the SC game. Trent had more catches this year than Henderson, in 2 fewer games. Not sure what someone has seen from a FR wide receiver to make them think "he's not that good"? He's shown up this year when his number was called, and led the team in receiving yards in our bowl game.
Yes, it is possible he lost some speed with weight gain. I don't know that he used his speed to great advantage with us.
I agree catches overall will go down.....but we know this kid has hands, and has shown some ability to get open (admittedly on a small sample size). I think he is going to be the safety valve, the guy QB look to in a pinch and the guy they go to for keeping drives alive. Especially when the returning WR/TE crew has not shown that kind of reliability. When healthy we've seem him go over the middle for tough catches and on the outside for short/intermediate first down catches. Just believe his smarts and skill set make for versatility that will be utilized.
