Drastically different. My worry with shorter is his ability to get open. This is much more of a concern bec of the uncertainty with how polished Emory is gonna be with his accuracy

well lets be real. He got WIDE open in man against Bama but Trask overshot him or that would have been a TD and he was open deep vs OU but inexplicably dropped it. I don’t think he has to get “open” but just has to use his size and strength and catch radius (THAT IS really where Pitts excelled at) more to his advantahe

Cope will be back, the other WRs should be much better than they looked in the bowl game. And hopefully we have a legit run game

i bet had we had the usual month’ish to prepare, those wr’s would have looked better as they would have been schemed to take advantage of their strengths. Only thing i took from the bowl game was they got PT and a few catches

Not only scheme to their strength but the timing involved in a passing attack. You can’t practice for a few days and expect anything different. I thought our receivers would take a huge step after they all went to the nfl the previous year and they were even better. I expect a little less next year but I think we will not be a weakness. Please run the ball well.

They all have the ingredients to be a solid core. It’s up to Emory to take that leap as a passer:

    most overall potential: X
next up as the man: Copeland
    Most dependable: Whittmore
    Solid guy who flashes: Shorter
    Pass catcher out backfield: Davis/Wright

then you have two experienced TE’s to go along with Fraziors, Pouncey, and Weston

Yep, they got some experience running routes against a top team. Better than running routes against the 2s in practice. So, now hopefully they realize how much work they need to put in to be the ballers they came to UF to be.

I agree and I expect bowman to be used similar to Percy/toney out of the backfield

I expect Whittemore to have a breakout year and be #1 receiver by the end of the year.

Don’t have as much depth this year. Will need to stay injury free at certain positions. We need a great off season of S&C, Spring ball, and EJ needs to work on timing with his receivers and RBs by throwing every day in Spring and Summer on his own. Can he lead and get WRs out practicing each day? Can WRs and TEs perfect route running and get separation from DBs in pass coverage? Can they improve pass catching skills? Lot of drops by Copeland, Henderson, Shorter and Gamble last year.

If Copeland would just catch the ball when thrown to him, he'll be a great WR.

this is true. I want to see him become better at running the route tree too. Gotta become more crisp

what made those drops even more frustrating was that they were uncontested drops too when they were open

Definitely think his production will increase, but I have to think Copeland or Shorter with their proven production will be WR1. Love Whittemore, and I know he missed time with injury, but he only had 10 catches on the year for 128 yards 1TD. Cope had 23 for 435 3TD. Personally I think Whitt will be a go to 3rd down safety blanket with his sure hands and key red zone target. Think WR1 goes to one of the others.
