Per a news report, the uniformed officers don't carry firearms. There are two plainclothes protective units, one for the Senate and one for the House. The guys in the House chamber wearing suits and their firearms drawn were from the House protective unit.

Want to add that I think this thread is extremely important as it shows that security for this event had been changed drastically from normal SOP. I believe that the FBI will be looking into political interference with the security set up and hopefully, ultimately murder /wrongful death charges for higher ups. Would support why zero command from DCCP has spoken and others are mia....ymmv

But I do like a good conspiracy, aliens!

This absolutely breaks my heart. I really have no words to describe how it feels to see Americans attack a man doing his job like that. I truly hope they catch everyone involved and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law and then give them the maximum penalty allowed under the law.

The Capitol Police is overseen by a four-member police board, comprised of the Sergeants-at-arms of the Senate and House, the Chief of Police, and the Architect of the Capitol.

Three of the four--all but the Architect of the Capitol--have been fired or resigned since Wednesday's catastrophic failures.

I don't think it was Sipnick - the video previously posted of this photo was shown on CNN just now and they just said it was an officer. They didn't mention his name. If you've seen the poor officer stuck in the doors it'll make you cry.

While it may not have been Sipnick it appeared to be a capital officer who was doing his job. I haven't seen the other you mentioned I don't think.

Oh, it definitely was an officer, someone else posted the video and stated it was Sipnick being killed. Well, I avoid the other video now, it disturbs this mother of 3 now grown men.

I think there’s a whole range of different situations here. I’m sure there are people that didn’t necessarily commit violent acts. Obviously there were a whole lot of people who never actually entered the building. Some obviously did enter the building, which is an extra layer of criminality. Some will have evidence of violence against them, some will not. If “nonviolent” people show contrition, plead guilty, then the govt can show some level of leniency in sentencing. I’m not saying slap on the wrist, but guilty pleas should always be taken into account.

Now people that beat up the police officer(s), smashed windows, stole or damaged other property, those people need to be dealt with in the harshest terms possible. As should anyone who made terroristic threats or incited this event.

Large numbers of the D.C. rioters were off-duty cops. Pictures of the riot are being analyzed, and people who are identified are losing their jobs. One was the police chief of Troy, New Hampshire. Some of the attackers showed their police badges to the capitol police to try to persuade them to give up the capitol building without a fight.

Seems a justifiable reason to expel her from Congress. Hard to think of any plausible defense to explain it away.

    1. Nobody believes your comments that you don't like Trump. You just can't stop the "whataboutisms" and trying to change the subject.
    2. Given the circumstances of this attack (and I will not repeat them) on the government of the United States to try to kill, kidnap or injure the Vice President and members of Congress to prevent them from accepting the votes of the winner of the election to try to continue the presidency of the loser, your attempt to draw parallels evinces true contempt for democracy where it is inconvenient for you.
    3. These are not parallels.

Whether or not Trump is to blame (he is) and whether or not a large number of people intended to commit violence, it's becoming increasingly clear that there was a legitimate chance that people in the Presidential line of succession were in danger of being murdered by U.S. citizens in the Capitol Building on Wednesday.

I have to agree. She is new to this, but I don’t think that’s an acceptable excuse.

Meanwhile, she is using this moment to reflect on how the left is driven by hate and conspiracy theories.
