The good news is that the people who show up (or try to show up) at these things tend to be dumb as a box of rocks, the bad news is that they own weapons. Local mensa candidate charged with transmitting a threat, unregistered fire arm.....

Georgia man among those facing federal charges following Capitol riot

(pay site, sorry. But the pic is awesome).
He had a billboard down the road from my house that said #QANON and his business, Car Nutz Car Wash.
He texted threats about killing Pelosi, many in our country are about to die and that he had a ton of armor piercing 5.56.
He unfortunately was late to rally because:

“I’m trying but currently stuck in Cambridge, OH with trailer lights being fixed,” he wrote in one of several text messages to friends, according to the F.B.I.

I will try posting pic, but haven't had much luck.

Not sure on the shirt. He is carrying (incorrectly) a short barreled AR with a hi capacity drum magazine, not sure of the brand.
The way he handles the weapon, surprised he hasn’t accidentally shot someone in the face yet.

    What’s more likely?

    • Hillary killed Seth Rich?
    • Trump killed Ashley Babbitt?

This wasn’t a protest gone bad. It was an insurrection against Congress planned and incited by the President. And these people understood what he wanted.

“We’re going to the Capitol,” Trump said. “We’re going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.”

The president added: “If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

A few more seconds of delay by the lawmakers heading to safety and we certainly would have.

I blame all of those who voted for him. Every single one of the 74 million for what happened this week. Why? Because they added to the number which scared ignorant power hungry repub senators into acting as irrational as the orange man, and fed conspiracy theories that also fueled the craziness.

If the room is full of Trump supporters, the left is definitely the smartest in the room.

That's the one thing that struck me after watching a few more videos of the attack. In addition to the complete disrespect for our country, for property, for law and order, for basic decency ... was the outright stupidity, from Trump on down.
They really thought that they could march into the Capitol and the Senate would simply overturn the election and declare Trump, the guy who lost the election, to be the president. There's a guy claiming that they will not allow Biden to become because they've got a few thousand people?
Trump really thought he could keep the presidency that way?
Reminds me of stoned hippies who thought we could turn it all into peace and love just because they thought it was like a really cool idea.

There are plenty of smart Trump supporters, but they are believing lies that have been slowly fed to them for twenty years.

I think the goals were multi-faceted.

Murdering Pelosi, Schumer and Pence was one. Delaying the certification was another.

I said in another post (not sure why it got deleted from whatever thread it was on, since it’s just my strong opinion). I now have no doubt in my mind Trump wanted a few of them dead so that he could impose martial law in the chaos. Coco was 100% right on this one, and so were some of the psychologists that warned as a narcissistic sociopath he’d try to “burn it all
down”. It wasn’t just about trying to strong arm the congress, though that was his first priority. When the political corruption failed to try and “change” electoral votes or disrupt the certification process, he moved to try to cause chaos and death. He did it right out in the open.

Trump believed he could stay in power either by killing the reps unwilling to overthrow the vote, or killing just enough that he could impose martial law and/or suspend the other two branches of the U.S government. This is why he’s not yet ordered the flags at half mast, has not contacted the familiy of the capitol police killed (or the injured). He has zero empathy or remorse. He’s sitting there stewing because the coup failed, and despite his video calling for calm he’s probably still plotting more. This dude is not resigning and is going to try more chaos. I have no doubt. Apparently Twitter and Amazon feel the same, they saw the crazed chatter that came from his last tweets.

There were even people in that Trump terrorist mob that wanted to go after Pence. Even though the security apparatus failed, the country is fortunate some brave capitol police held them back just enough so congress and Pence could evacuate before the mob could reach them.

I was going to say that the very fact that Trump apparently believed that Pence could simply hand him the election is baffling, but Trump's ignorance about so many things has been evident for five years now.
Unfortunately, he apparently convinced millions of equally ignorant people and so Pence became their enemy.

How would an incumbent ever lose an election if the VP could just “decide” which votes to count. It undermines the entire process of our system of govt.

Yet these traitors, and make no mistake everyone even remotely on board with these guys is a traitor to our constitution, these people consider themselves patriots and freedom fighters. The lack of logic is off the charts.

    It's not baffling to me.

Trump has lead a life where he has done whatever he wanted and faced little or no consequences. His motto is, "do it and dare them to punish you."

Looks like a quick thinking Capitol police officer saved many lives, correctly calculating that the haters would try to come after him and not go to the open door
