Thread with timelines of requests for assistance. Requests were made in advance and troupes DCNG, but it looks like after calls for immediate assistance it was an hour and a half before mobilization was approved. Some stuff in comments about DCNG being limited by Jan4 EO

Is it just me or is suddenly Olympus has Fallen is now a suddenly plausible situation and not a movie? Our protection in DC seems lax. Good thing we are surrounded by oceans.

The White House is still a fortress. It seems they're just okay with letting Congress get whacked.

The movies have Spetsnatz attacking the White House. Trump had a bunch of Proud Boys with BMIs over 35.

The White House is guarded by the Secret Service. They don't eff around.

You'd think they'd tighten it up there, seeing as how once a year, the POTUS, the VP, the Cabinet, the SCOTUS, and all of Congress gather for the SOTU.

They have a lot of extra security that day.

I'm sure it's a totally different security arrangement on that day (secret service protection and every available officer). Congress is on a normal day open to the public! The police there are used to dealing with tourists and small groups of nut job protestors that may think they can impede congress.

Bottom line: I don't think any security measures are in place for the President of the United States to direct and lead his own supporters in an insurrection. But knowing THIS President, that security probably should have been elevated and ready.

my first job out of college was in DC, one of my coworkers was shot and killed by the SS after a struggle.
    So yeah, I concur.

The election was hacked and illegally interfered with by a foreign adversary, and as the Mueller Report proved plain as day, the Kremlin worked in coordination with the Trump campaign. That’s an according-to-Hoyle invalid election.

    Could you please be specific?

What has Trump done for this country of which you are proud?

It won’t last long. The adults are in charge again, and the FBI and Homeland Security are about to burn down their playground.

I posted plenty of links. The rioters and looters at BLM protests were white supremacists. Confirmed by the arresting police and Trump’s own cabinet.

I'd advise you to get a feel for posters style prior to jumping to conclusions.

Which is strange since it's congress that controls the Capitol Police. Whatever one wants to say, this was a massive (and embarrassing) failure to protect the seat of our democratic republic. But because of it is that seat, there is more daily access for ordinary citizens than the WH.

I have a good friend who was in the secret service for three years. Said that I wouldn't find anyone more gung-ho and that it was nuts and ridiculously stressful. Also said the job politics were the worst aspect (well that and finding a parking spot). So much more cut throat than anything he ever experienced. This is a guy who spent nearly six years in special forces and a decade with the state police beforehand (he had to get out and fortunately for him, he was able to get back with the state police).
