Of those, Judge Culpepper has a connection but was not the quality to get a UF offer, and I believe is still not a player we would look at. I am really hoping we get one of the others. I just think DT is a glaring problem next year that not Shelton alone can solve.
Curious, beyond you just posting something as a final verdict on this kid? The entire UT OL was a big disappointment this season, after coming into the season ranked just behind the Alabama OL. The UT offensive line was hit big time during the fall with co-vid related issues, as well as Morris having health related issue with his ankle during the season. I don't have access to player grades, but was able to get grades for one game in which Morris graded the highest among the UT offensive tackles. So would care to offer some specifics on why this kid wouldn't be a upgrade over what the Gators currently have available at OT going into next year?
I watched several of their games - all losses - and their o line was bad in all of them. I am not a fan of PFF rankings, especially for college. (They basically hire recent college grads with stat degrees to be “analysts” who couldn’t possibly have the football knowledge to grade players -they are not football scouts. if you didn’t see, for most of theyear they listed Trask as the 48th best QB and instead of raising him when he dominated, the 23 year old in charge of the qb rankings kept trying to justify his position). be that as it may, you are looking for rankings. Yes, tenn was rated like #5 OL to start the year by PFF and finished 62nd. Their top ranking player was trey smith at 74.9. That is an average grade. No other o linemen graded as average or better so I cannot get Morris’s exact rating without paying for it but...since I don’t put too much value in their rankings (yet ironically am using them to make a point since you asked about it) I am not going to pay for the subscription. so...I used my eye test. Tenn o line was bad this year. You may be correct that Morris had injury issues and may have upside but I didn’t see any stud standing out when I watched them.
Yep. PFF kept trashing Trask all season long even after he was putting up gaudy numbers. I guess they already took the position to dig their heels in. I hated PFF for that.
